Fast question on a Crosley 635
Doing a recap on this radio for a friend, and I hit a "question mark".
The set uses a 1 uF 160V cap, but do I replace it with an electrolytic or a mylar? Link to Riders: https://www.tubesandmore.com/schemat...osley-corp/635

I would use a mylar! Then you don't have to worry about polarity.

I just looked at the schematic again!
If you used an electrolytic cap, the positive side would have to go to the chassis ground. It's a bypass for the neg bias line. I'd still go with the mylar. |

The mylar should last longer than the electrolytic too.

And mylar it was...closest I had was a pair of .47 in parallel. Close enough, and works nicely . Thanks!

I'd measure the voltage across it, (C21?) should only be about 15 or so? a small electrolytic would do nicely..

In this case, I don't need to.....it's now happily back with its owner and playing nicely
