CR70 vs CR7000

Which tester is better and more useful?
I’ve heard the digital scale on the CR7000 is apt to label tubes dead whereas the CR70’s analog meter shows signs of life.
Also, which is better for tube rejuvenation should it need to be done?

Thanks,
Zach

I have a CR70 and share the technical philosophy of Mr. Scott: "The more they overthink the plumbing the easier it is to stop up the drain".

I own neither(wish I had a 70), but ISTR hearing the 7000 was just a 70 with a digital gauge.

The Sencore CR-70 is less likely in my experience to write off a usable tube. My favorite CRT tester is the Beltron (I've modified mine a bit though), my second is the Sencore CR-70.

A few years back, someone at the ETF one year tested a 16AP4 in the auction with their Sencore CR-70. They declared the tube dead. I went ahead, tested it on my Beltron, and it looked fine to me. I won it on the silent auction for $5 or $10 or something ridiculous. Took it home, popped it in a working Westinghouse set, and it was a perfectly good, strong tube. I think I flipped it for $70...
