Even the manufacturer misnamed it

This is the first time I've seen an under-cabinet item called "under the counter" by its manufacturer (Magnavox-branded, no less):

Wow. Apparently no-one really thought about what they were writing.

I had a Philco that appeared to be the same set.

Leave it to marketing to say something dumb and spread it around.

As I recall, all under cabinet mounted devices were under counter. I don't ever recall seeing "under cabinet" on anything. I have a pic of our can opener which would have sounded dumb if it had said "space encabinet"

Googling either under counter or under cabinet gets all devices, most of which are under cabinet, but some of which are actually under counter. So I guess under counter is just used too frequently to correct.

I always referred to them as over-the-counter or under-cabinet.

So one doesn't need a prescription to buy one of those TV's.

GE had a better name for them, "Spacemaker".
