Wards Airline GEN 1479A Schematic
I am looking for a schematic for this bad boy. The one in SAMS shows an entirely different model. However, I understand that perhaps a Sylvania TR_146BK is similar to the one I have.
Interesting that Wards would sell two different radios with the same model number. Thanks in advance! |

Hi guys, On Airline and Sears models you need to look for photofact info using the chassis number. These two retailers used model numbers over and over again and again. Likely other retailers did the same thing. All the best, tom.j.fla

Dont go only by the picture on a Sams, its the guts
that matter. They only show one of often a long list that use the same chassis. Never saw much Wards but Sears 4 digit model numbers were USELESS. You can also look for an EIA number on the PCB & maybe find who built it. A few pictures may work also. A TV is easy to ID that way but radio would be a challange. 73 Zeno |

nope it didn't have have speakers built into it, and it wasn't a series string set either, you had to attach external speakers to it only and it had a phono input on the back using two RCA Jacks, and actually I was mistaken on the model number, the model number was 3025 which also crossreferenced in Sams to a 1950s AM only Alarm Clock Radio which the 3025 I have is a AM/FM Stereo Multiplex Tabletop Radio with external Speaker jacks (no built in speakers) and a phono jack and it had a Transformer in it for the power supply (wasn't series strung.) So anyways like I said previously it must of been common for department store brands to reuse their model numbers on their radios every few years or so, seeing as Sears and Monkey Wards both did it.

Mine has stereo phono input too....It would have made a nice mini system back in it's day with a small changer .

I'm all in with the chassis number. All I can find is serial and production number. Where else should I look?

I know on my Sears/Silvertone Stereo there was a stamped metal plate riveted to the back of the chassis that had the chassis number engraved onto it, the number would look like xxx.xxxxxx which both Sears and Monkey Wards used pretty much the same suppliers for their chassises so more than likely it will start with a number like 101.xxxxxx or 524.xxxxxx so look for a stamped metal plate or paper label with a number similar to what is shown above, that should give you an idea as to what to look for in the Sam's Photofacts.

Sams says TSM-106, but I don't have that - I top out at TSM92
