I have a set like that downstairs but is in a dark wood cabinet that is almost perfect.
The crt checks good and I am going to do a recap on the chassis this winter.
I wonder why rca put the 5u4 at a angle in that chassis. Vary strange...

It does offer more clearance for the crt. It's been a long time since I looked at the chassis on my '54 RCA but this looks familiar-I remember that 5U4.

Ya see weird stuff in some of the old sets and wonder what they where thinking.
I look at it and know someone had a reason for doing it but not sure why.
Much more interesting than the modern stuff you see today.
