A CT-100 could have been a candidate for portability w/it's 15" pic & all...But I guess in '54 they were happy the damn thing WORKED, much less being able to tote it around. Come to think of it, the earliest sets-if you discount the 7" models of the late '40s, the earliest really portable TVs I recall were the 8" RCAs of '56 or so. Didn't Emerson also have a TV/AM radio that was portable around then as well? -Sandy G.

Yes, it was the Emerson Model 1232, I have it, and it was my first old TV that I got working. Nice compact design inside, and still pretty easy to service. I also have the '56 RCA, which is an amazing TV from an electronic perspective, how that fit all that stuff into such a small case. They not only did this, but made a very well built set, that is designed to make it easier to service. (The two chassis can slide out on rails)
