I don't mean to beat a dead horse but you have tried sliding the trap back and forth, side to side with the brightness turned up?

It can be tricky to find the sweet spot sometimes.
Also a Focus coil can sometimes throw the beam off far enough to prevent it from hitting the screen, try turning that to the other end of the range and readjust the trap.

Lastly, the Focus Coil is used as a choke in that set (I'm pretty sure) it won't operate if the coil is open. It should be from a few hundred Ohm to about 1500 I think.

I removed both of the large resistor's, the 5K 5W is reading over 6K so I'm going to replace it, the 3K 15W however measures good. If i can locate one of these I'll go ahead and replace it.

In the mean time check out the tuner installed in this chassis, Never seen one of these in a 30A1.

Cool! You have one of the 1st generation Admiral sets. Probably three 6J6s in the tuner and it might have channel #1.
