Watch out that he doesn't just remove the B&W CRT and chassis, and stick in a color BPC set... :thumbsdn:

Here's an ad I found on eBay for a 1961? Magnavox, which is just an RCA CTC11 in a Magnavox cabinet.
The view out the window of the Empire State Building tells us who the target market was for this set, upscale shoppers who lived in expensive Skyscraper Apartments, i.e. Don Draper types.

I like the matching stereo and speakers. I doubt you'll ever find all 3 together.

Yeah...Wonder how many of them Bad Bois did they sell ? And how many survived for 50 years ? Prolly could count the remaining sets, & not use up all the fingers of one hand...

Could there have been/was there a separate cabinet for the AM/FM tuner, amp, and phono that the TV audio was connected to to drive the abutting speakers? Would not be TV stereo sound, but would have sounded MUCH better than the speaker in the TV cabinet. Sure would like to find that set-up!!
Thanks for the post and ad!!!

Does anyone have a real picture?

mstaton 07-23-2012 01:01 AM

The amp/tuner is probably built into one of the speakers

I doubt it. And you're welcome.

If you look at the fine print on the Ad it says you can buy the TV or the Stereo now and add the other later, in other words they were two separate units.

Thanks.

This is just a little informed conjecture: it may take Julian quite a while to reach his Maggie depending on how deep it's buried.
