If you're picking it up, make sure you bring some very strong people. That set is HEAVY!!

Yep, I about killed myself on mine.....several times. I've moved it about 5 times over the years, up the stairs, down the stairs, in a storage locker, back out and back in again.LOL! It's the same set but a rectangular screen. Weighs an efffin ton!

OK......back home after a long day of driving, loading and unloading. Here are some pictures of the set. It is a Magnavox model 2MR556K in Fruitwood with a C39 television chassis. The lady I bought it from is the original owner who is 81 years old. She told me that the TV hasn't worked in a long time, and she's just been using it as a stand for current TV. The inside is really dusty but looks totally unmolested. It has the original Magnavox 21FJP22 tube, which started out a little flat, but is waking up nicely with running the filaments for a while. The photo of the CRT tester shows what I measured after about 10 minutes of wake-up. I'll leave it cook for an hour or so and re-test. The set has the original remote control and the 45RPM adapter for the turntable. The amp and tuner are solid state, and there are a 15" woofer and horn tweeter on each side of the cabinet.

That is some kind of pretty, I'm glad you got it! I think a lot of the sellers really are glad to see someone who appreciates their old sets go to a good home. Enjoy the heck out of it!

consoleguy67 11-21-2012 09:20 AM

Just a little FYI: The remote will also allow you to change records.

DaveWM 11-21-2012 09:30 AM

even though its not tube, those old astrosonics sound pretty good. I have a couple and they do very well.
