Gumout, Berryman B12 and Berkebile 2+2 are the best. I had Mopars, so I went through alot of carb cleaner:sigh:
BTW Air rifles work great on mice, I find them in the firewood pile often.

I try to buy stuff from clean places. If it looks dirty or smelly, I dont buy.

You really have to be careful when you find live Mice because that's where you can catch the Hantavirus. There apparently have only been two cases in New York State but I'd still be careful.

I've had some badly infested sets but they weren't active nests, years gone in fact but you could still smell the pee.
I still get out the Clorox and give them a bath no matter how long gone the Meeces are.

Back some years ago, I got a call about a color tube type TV that all of a sudden went dead. Opened it up and found a mouse had gotten fried on top of the HV trippler. which of course tripped the circuit breaker of the set. Removed the dead mouse, and coated the burnt terminals with some corona paint, reset the breaker and it was back in working order. Guess her TV made a pretty good, but expensive mouse trap!

What should I use on the inside of the cabinet?

I would about freak if I had mice in my house. All I get is the occasional blonde spider. Never in my life have I laid eyes on a cockroach either. The cold winters here in Buffalo kill all the little creepy crawlies :yes:

These comments above are the reason that I never bring anything into the house until it's been thoroughly opened up and aired out.

I did have a problem with mice in my shop at one point. Customer brought in a console set right at closing time. It tested dead. I waited until the next day to check it out.

When I opened the door and turned on the lights in the morning, I saw 3 little shadows take off and run under the benches. There was a large nest inside the set, and a small hole under the chassis beside the metal screen.

I quickly rolled the console... it had wheels... out back, and opened it up further.

I got the nest out, but found it was full of babies. and a couple more big mice that ran away.

A little D-Con, and never saw any thing else. Customer refused the repair price, and I held the set for 90 days, and snatched the CRT and chassis for parts. The rest was smashed by a friend's little boy who loved destroying things, and tossed the carnage in the dumpster.

I'm running a set today that is using the CRT from this rat set.

I hate meeces to pieces! - snagglepuss

I had some of my stuff in a dry wood shed at my parents old house. Being in a heavily-wooded remote area, the meeces were relentless. Even squirrels got in and made a hellish mess, but at least they stayed out of the insides. Some meeces ate speaker cones, others ate grill cloth, leaving the cone alone (wtf) but all of those little bastards deuced and peed everywhere.

At least now, my dry but unheated garage has no evidence of meeces. It may be that Im in a sparsely wooded area surrounded by farms or because my gray tomcat lives in the garage and he masticates anything that enters!

Snagglepuss, a total favorite of mine sez heavens to mergatroid. It's easy to mix them up.

I watched all of the Hanna Barbera product from Ruff and Reddy on, and later, their MGM cartoons. Great fodder for the TV kiddies... every morning on local TV!

I use a spray bottle with water and a little Bleach, little being the key word, I used a 50/50 mix the last time and it took a day before my sinuses recovered!
Probably a Tablespoon in a quart of water would be effective, I would still not breath it though.

I brought home a 1950's Grundig console several years ago... started pulling the chassis out the back and a couple dozen cock roaches came scurrying out! Talk about gross! Thanks goodness I was just in the garage with it.

Incidentally, the formerly mouse-infested set is almost ready for first power up. Have to do one more filter can. The mice only chewed on two wires to the volume control, luckily.

At this point, it's a pride thing. I can't let the little bastards win :D

Tim, does your Sylvania have the Halolight feature? Is the fly under the chassis?

I always open unknown radio' s and tv's outside, before bringing inside! Good thing too, as I once found the largest Wolf Spider I've ever seen in Michigan, crouched down and looking at me from the top of the chassis! Still gives me the "all-overs" when I think about it! I'm not crazy about meeces or snakes, but hate large spiders worse, they can send me squealing like a little school girl! :-) But my wife isn't afraid of spiders, she will walk right past a big one, then tell me "there's one of your friends!"
