If you painted it with lacquer and polished it out, it wouldn't/shouldn't look like it was painted.

Is this something better practiced first or is it something that just about anyone can do? I'm not too experienced with painting. Is this a spray or brush process? Would polishing be like color sanding with fine grit sand paper and water, or some other kind of polish?
