This might be a sign that the 621's value is once again rising. The last couple that sold, if I recall, where even in better shape and sold for much less. They had peaked at around $2,000 for prime examples and really should be up at that value again.

I always wonder if the type of auction influences the end price?? This one started at .98c with no reserve and developed interest and several bidders over the duration of the auction. Whereas you see BIN auctions with a high starting bid or with a reserve and the set gets little or no interest. Makes me wonder. Start it low with no reserve and let the bidding take over vs setting an unattainable BIN price and trying to hit a home run right off the top!

I guess there is pros and cons with either way.

I think that is a very smart way to sell.

They don't show up much in California so the chance of winning a set locally may have influenced the bidding. I have no idea of course where the winning bidder lives.

Strangely enough, mine came out of Craigslist Greater L.A. You just never know where they'll turn up but seems more often than not New Jersey etc. Mine looked like it had been sitting in the sun in Palm Springs for the last 40 years!!!
