I'd be interested in the FJP if the price was right. I'd love to get my CTC 11 lookin better for sure.

Channel Master building new color CRTs from scratch sounds kind of doubtful to me, unless they bought a plant at distressed prices. The tooling was not cheap, plus the light houses for patterning the phosphors had to match a particular yoke design.

Can you dredge up the references that say they did it?

Yes, I know this is an old thread.

As with many things in life, I would bet the difference between the 1, 2 or 3 year CRT warranty was a different label and price.

We used Channel Master at the independent shop because they were reliable and inexpensive (cheap) enough for the customer to say "replace it". That's what kept the doors open and the lights on. Almost all of the sets were old enough they couldn't produce a picture worthy of a "better quality" CRT.

RCA had a program (68-69?) where a silver dollar was given for every RCA rebuilt CRT bought. The boss let us keep the silver dollar if we happened to make the parts run that day. Being part time and low man on the pay pyramid, I was able to collect quite a few silver dollars.

I worked for a shop for 7 years back in the 60’s. IIRC, their top tube was all new.
