Hi grumpy,
Let's make peace, right? Yesterday I was a member of one wonderful set of forums, with lots of virtual friends, tonight I get two sets for the same money (that is for free!). I will remain an enthusiastic member of both, and my thanks to all the volunteers that do their best to keep things going. Good night. |

I'm including the vintage radio forums too. I personally made way over 50 posts between those two forums in that period - I know because I've been spending several hours copying them over and they are plenty of other guys posting too. Between the vintage TV and radio forums there must be at least 10 posts / day. Anyway, why not suspend posting during the transition? If you ever need help in the future, drop me a line. I'd love to help out. This is what I do for a living too. Bob |

I'm not sure how to get to other threads though. The main vintage TV and radio forum pages are blank. http://www.audiokarma.org/forums/forumdisplay.php?f=19 Maybe you can dig up links from your browser history? |
If you remember the title (or some words) from your thread, you can google search for it, and click on the link and it will still work. That is how I found the thread on the metal cabinet 50s GE sets I was working on: http://www.audiokarma.org/forums/sho...d.php?t=240074
and my thread asking about remote controls in radios: http://www.audiokarma.org/forums/sho...35#post2984235 This was a surprise to me, but despite the loss of a few threads, I think having a separate tv board was a great idea, and I like having the tv classifieds back the way they used to be.:thmbsp: |

Surprising how well Google has indexed the site. BTW - I don't mean to come off sounding like an ungrateful jerk. I really do like to new split as well. I'm definitely looking forward to using the classifieds. Bob |
Nice little site.. :thmbsp:
I have this odd feeling like I've been here before............Must be a glitch in the Matrix... :) |
A huge thanks to Dave and Tim for putting this together.
I'll enjoy having a dedicated site to this hobby along with the audio one. |
I'm sure I'll find something of interest here too. :thmbsp:
|
You guys have to remember that for a plant to grow, you need to transplant a part of it, and put it in a new pot, making both pots places for growing.
We could never do things like free classifieds before, etc, in the old framework. Remember guys, I'm a TV guy, so what we have here is something for us, by us. It also means that your voices for change and direction will be heard much more clearly, as you don't have to go shouting over a crowd. |
The link from AK to VK is now fixed.
|
Have we registered new videokarma members yet? I mean new people that have
joined videokarma directly? Who will have the honor to be the first to join these forums? Someone (jr_tech) complained he had joined audiokarma recently and could not log in here: http://www.audiokarma.org/forums/sho...14#post3018114 |
If they registered on or after Aug 13th they will have to re register to videokarma.
|
This is great, thanks Dave and Tim!
|
I am most supportive of the efforts and of both sites. I really appreciate the knowledge base we have here and including my 2 cents worth to be helpful when I can.
Thanks guys! |
Currently I cannot access the site using any variation of the videokarma.org address, though videokarma.net is how I got here tonight.
Also, any insight as to why the site does not remember my login info (even though I checked that box) and makes me enter my ID and password every time? FF 3.5 here. |
I've enjoyed many, many posts from the www.audiokarma.org site over the last 3 years, although my own contributions have been sparse. I've gleaned an awful lot of good info from all the members, especially my favorite threads in Tape, Turntables, Tubes, Early B&W-Early Color-Rectangular TV forums, & Antique Radios.
I'm relieved to read that these archived posts will still be there somewhere. It's always good to delve back into a subject & know it will still be there. I'm willing to wait awhile for the "bugs" to be sorted out, as I really do like the idea of having olders post & all those great pics by members still available. Good luck & good speed on this! |
I stay away for a day or two and find out we've moved...
That's OK. Nice to have a board of our own 'though I am a big hi-fi guy too. Thanks to the mods for getting us set-up.
|
Nice site grumpy and kamakiri. Good to have both a Video and a Audio place to hang out!! :thmbsp:
|
All I can add is....WOW! Great site.
|
just stopping by....was hoping i would get a cool low member number..
|
Kam, really glad to see you on here-I remember some good posts you had when I first joined, the CT-100 saga, etc. I'd really like to see some of the guys come back in the fold who have been away for awhile: Polaraman, Heathkit TV, Captain Moody. I ain't forgot about you!

From another post of mine in the AK News forum: "That's because I clicked on the link displayed on the audiokarma forums page (http://www.audiokarma.org/forums/index.php). The link they give there does not work (http://www.audiokarma.org/forums/forumdisplay.php?f=166), even though next to it it reads: "Click here to find the new home for all of Audiokarma's TV and Radio forums www.videokarma.org"." Is that the same link you fixed, or are you talking about a different one? |
All the links are fixed now.
|
Here's my historic first thread to this new video forum. Neat old idea to create videokarma. Represents quite a commitment and dedication for the Board to move forward and implement the idea. Congratulations!

does not work anymore. Trying to open such links now leads to a page requesting some kind of internal password. Why? |
The forum is back and the link from audiokarma.org even works.
I updated my CTC-11 whining, which came to a happy end (at least for the no-luminance problem). Yay! Phil Nelson |
I love it! Thanks Grumpy and Kamakiri for making this possible. I also love vintage TV's & video games as well and I will enjoy this site very much. PS- do I get to show off all my old video game systems too?? :D
|
Yes you do! :D
In fact, I've had a busy weekend picking up something cool.....I'll post shortly :) |
Any chance of the photo gallery coming over?
Are the two photo galleries for TVs coming over as well? - Horizontal Hold and the Vintage TV brochure galleries.
Nice expansive split from AK. I used to repair the old X-Y monitors for arcade games, so the new forums should be enjoyable. Oh, and sponsor ads - any plans to sell advertising? Cheers, |
Good idea moving the old TV and radio stuff!
BTW, I never found the Hoffman TV in Portland mentioned in a recent post. Finaly made it there a week ago last Friday, but the lady said it was gone! :tears: |
Okay, I don't have time to go over this whole thread before work, so if these questions have already been answered, I apologize:
How tightly integrated is Videokarma to Audiokarma? I like that my AK membership transferred over. But if I were to, like change my signature or avatar on Audiokarma, would it change here as well? Why an entirely seperate forum? Was AK just getting too cluttered with offshoot forums? Does my AK subscription give me any perks here? |
Nice place you have here. :D

I'll try to answer em in order. As of right now there is no way im aware of to transfer AK's TV gallery over here. That's not to say it won't happen just not real high on the priority list yet. We do hope to get some sponsors on board. For now were just really trying to get the bugs out. Grumpy |

The sites are completely independent of each other. What you do on one is not reflected on the other. Its a project that was always envisioned from day one of AK. Manpower was the issue holding us back. The split should allow this site to blossom in to its own rather then being lost in the expanse that is Audiokarma. Other then carrying over your subscriber banner here, there is no planned perks in the immediate future. If or when we go live with a subscriber section we will be sure to let everyone know. Grumpy |
Ah, I could have two different signatures? One for here and one for AK?
Hmmmmmm..... |
Sure can. The two sites are not tied together in any way.
|
Wow this site has been up for over a week and I didn't even know about it!:yikes: Nice job Grumpy and company and good luck. :thmbsp:
