Yeppers.. Thats the one I put in there and ordered it from Moyers. One oddball thing is that I noticed upon a cold fire up, the tuner light slowly increases in brightness until fully lit. Thought that was interesting.

On the vertical lin issue, I have found that replacing the caps on the vertical output board and a resistor that likes to drift off the vert height pot or the lin pot if I recall usually solves that issue.

Which brings me to a new question.. Where is the vertical height/lin pots on a CTC-9? I dont mean to nound dumb, just didn't see them on the back of the set.

On mine, they are 'inside' the front panel controls. The center of my vert hold control is vert lin, I think. You need a jewlers screwdriver to tweak them.

Well I haven't tested tubes yet but I have done some more adjustments on the set tonight. What I have noticed is that the raster lacks the contrast it should have. When bright scenes come in it kind of blooms out of focus. I have a feeling that the 3a3 is prob a little weak as well as some others. The brightness is there it just doesn't seem right. Good greyscale although. The CYP CRT should put out some good illumination like the FJP right? I'm checking tubes tomorrow.

if the HV looks right, the HOT and Shunt current look correct? I like to watch the HV while oberving scene changes to see how well the regulation is taking place. I also recall reading somewhere that defects in the video amp circuit can cause excessive beam current due to bias on the CRT cahodes being incorrect resulting in overloading of the HV circuit.

Replace the 3A3! Doogie

If the HV and regulator are OK, but the CRT draws too much beam current, you will SEE it go out of regulation (losing focus, and picture size changes)

Yep it's dwawing excessive beam current I believe. I guess I just got used to the way an FJP22 looks. This is the first CYP CRT I have had.

I think the 21CYP22 is definitely less bright overall than an 'FJ or 'FB.

your cyp will not be as bright as the fjp steve

If it has weak guns, yes. The CYP that came in my '9 is very strong, it gets almost as bright as an FJP does but has better color IMO.
