I got a RatShak DX-400 AM/FM/SW portable & a little 2" Sony Watchman, that I need to run & get batteries for..VERY pleased ! I had a DX-390-Wonder where they came up w/THAT model # ?!?- that was a very good radio, albeit a tad flimsy-It was what re-kindled my interest in this stuff in 1990. This one looks to be a LOT more robust, & I KNOW I'll enjoy it. Thanks, Pat !

So yesterday,my boss brings in one of his kids broken Mac laptop for me to check out.Turns out to be a bad power supply,so I tell him I can scrounge up something.I get home that nite to find a box o crap on my porch,I rip it
open and whats inside? The very same P/S needed for my bosses laptop.What are the odds of that? Also included was a tube radio chassis, and a waffle iron that was probably built by Thomas Edison,not to mention some interesting assorted E-Scrap:thmbsp:

Clearly I may have taken the "Crap" part of this project a little too seriously, although in all fairness I didn't know the Jose Feliciano 8-Track I sent Rob was broken. :lmao:

I hope you gave him the white one, the silver one I put in there only works intermittently.

The best of what I got was a Sencore CRT tester, one of those little filament-only light-up tube testers still in the original box - complete with instruction book, and an engine vacuum gauge.

So when's part II - I'm already collecting more crap in a pile to be sent.:yes:

Taint hard to fix an 8-track.....Whenever I get a bunch of new ones or start playing the all old ones after a good rest the metal track splices always start to let go.

Once one gets the hang of opening the cartridge and reassembling the rest comes fairly easy. I've figured out how to re-spool slack from the center and out side alike, and can fix the track splice with super glue or tape so that the metal splice remains and all looks/works right.

Is there anyone that didn't receive a crap swap box that participated? If so, please post so that I can needle your gift giver ;)

After perusing the dark, half-forgotten Gooleyholes in my basement, I've found that I DO, indeed, have LOTS of Crap to Swap...No more Ugly Pieces of Grey Metal, which my wife didn't much like me givin' away, anyhow...I told her she was lucky I didn't start givin' away the ugly YELLOW pieces of metal...
