Such wonderful sets everyone! The PB and Raytheon are very interesting!

Here is my contribution, though a bit newer. Have had the CTC12A Burgoyne since 1979, the CTC11 Wakely since 1986. I lost many others during many moves...:sigh: before VK I had no idea anyone cared about these but me..

1955 Hoffman M4021A

Some incredible resolution from the '57 and '58 sets above. Some claim that the older the color set, the better the color rendering... but I remember the picture on my 1967 CTC-24A "Glenview" being far superior to anything that came out in the '50s... (when my set was still working, that is). I remember its excellent convergence (little to no stray color on B&W) and sharp focus.

Theremin, do you have a photo showing more of that room? I get the idea there are other interesting TVs on display (for instance, I spy the edge of a DuMont RA-103 in the Revere cabinet).

That Packard Bell set has some cosmetic characteristics similar to my 1959 HMV F5-A6 B&W set http://www.troysvintagevideo.741.com/hmv.html and many other Aussie made B&W sets made in the late 50s , the wood colour, the positioning of the knobs (except mine are at the bottom) and most notable the blue/violet/grey tint colour of the plastic bezel behind the safety glass. I notice that safety glass tint characteristic with quite a few vintage sets of the same era my friend John has http://cool386.tripod.com/ see this pic for example http://www.flickr.com/photos/1346915...in/photostream . I wonder if the colour is due to age of the glass?

Great thread, love checking out those TVs, had I been living in the states knowing my luck of getting a hold of rare vintage TVs, cameras etc. I would of had a roundie for display:). But being in Australia and Australia not getting colour broadcasts till late 1974 we missed the roundie era so the odds of coming across one here is less than 1% compared to in the states but we did have a few used in colour demonstrations and training in the 60s so there's still a chance of getting one over here, I was lucky enough to get a 1947 Andrea VJ12 B&W TV chassis http://www.troysvintagevideo.741.com/andrea.html so knowing my luck I reckon I'll find me a roundie somewhere here or get enough dollars together to import one from the states :).

Here's my 2 cents worth; my unrestored 1959 RCA CTC-9 Paterson with 'Panoramic sound' (3 speakers). Great Mid-Century Modern design!

Indeed...and here it is, in a shot that does not do it justice, but it's the only one I have right now... Very happy to have it, and looking forward to watching that new DVD of the 1959 NBC "Jazz Singer" starring Jerry Lewis (HEY LADYYYY!), in its newly discovered Living Color...

Did you ever find decent knobs for it? I remember a few were not in good shape.

Just acquired yesterday after a 700 mile round trip to California. My first '50s roundie :banana::banana::banana::banana:

CTC5 The Chandler

Needs some light cabinet work. It looks better in person than in the pictures. I'm going to try to save the original finish. Missing the volume and brightness knobs, the high voltage cage cover (of course) and the back cover. Also needs a new "Deluxe" emblem on the front. Has the original 21AXP22 picture tube, which I have not yet tested.

No new knobs yet...they haven't caused me much trouble. Trickiest part so far was finding a screwdriver long enough and skinny enough to reach the height adjustment control. Jebus, what a terrible design!

Yeah, tell me about it! Need a really special jewelers screwdriver to get at those.

Very nice set, damen. I'm curious about the CRT. Is that a 21CYP22? I have the same chassis, and HV anode connection is not the same. I suspect that you have a substitute CRT in there.

Yea it is a replacement tube the date on the tube is 1969 it was upgraded when I got it.

It's a 21F(B or J)P22.

When this thread started I did not own a single roundie. Now I own 4 sets. This is an RCA CTC-7 Worthington from 1958. In the corner was a 21CT55, buts currently being restored so we put a small Christmas tree in its place.

I thought I'd never find a roundie. But the TV Gods shined upon be, and I was blessed with a 1963 Admiral combo. Now just to get some RCA and Zenith roundies. Rare as hen's teeth in these parts.

I posted this on my own thread when I first got it, but I thought I'd add it into this thread! It's my 1959 RCA CTC-9 Caulfield in near mint condition. I've yet to restore it, but will soon..
