It can work for sure but just be careful you don't remove so much you create an optical distortion.

I had an entire cabinet identical to that one but i gave it to the thrift store, I don't remember what shape the screen was in though, might have been better or worse. Wish I'd kept it now so I could offer it to you.

Great job on that set! The all-red cabinet is striking. They display such a great picture. I always hate to turn mine off!
