Yeah, that's just nuts. Apparently someone working at Raytheon had way too much time on their hands, and an open pocket book to boot.

Raytheon got out of consumer electronics and became a defense contractor. Uncle Sam and the Pentagon would willingly pay for this sort of thing.

Top of chassis cleaned pretty well. It's about time to recapacitate the undercarraige.

Your Chassis looks exactly like the one in my Raytheon M-1601 C-1602 console.
The top of my chassis had a few more mouse pee rust spots than yours.

I like the way Raytheon panel stamped the tube id's on the top of the Chassis,
and after you recap the bottom is surprisingly neat looking. I've got a replacement
NOS 16AP4 CRT waiting for me to get motivated. My Raytheon is one of my
favorite portholes.

Hi CW, I reviewed your restoration thread over on ARF. Your console is a real beauty, and you did a very fine job of restoring it. I noticed your set also has the fine tuning lever, however, Riders does not seem to make mention of it for your chassis number either?

I've never seem a flyback transformer like that. They must've made it themselves.
I got a small console set, like that free for the hauling. That was like 30 years ago. I don't remember what happened to it! All I remember, it was super clean and came from the original owner.
A friend has a 12" table model like it. A real nice, clean example but the auxillary control cover is missing. It's the kind with the two pins that go into retainer clips, that always seem to get lost. The cabinet has the leatherette covering. Outside of that, the set looks good. :thmbsp:

There is a whole page in Riders on changes they made to this chassis over it's production span, which makes for a logistical nightmare trying to follow the original schematics in both Riders and Sams. One change I'm not seeing listed is this 500 ohm resistor someone installed in series with the plate cap lead to the horizontal output tube. Anyone want to hazard a guess why that would have been added?

Hillbilly width adjustment.

Sounds like it’s in pretty decent shape overall, and a little refinishing on the cabinet should bring it back to life nicely.

Looking forward to seeing how it turns out once you’ve had a chance to go over the chassis! If you’re into well-crafted vintage-inspired pieces, https://coach-bags.co.uk/ has some great classic designs worth checking out.

Oh Boy. It's almost as if the OP of this thread abandoned it 9 years ago. :D Believe it or not this Raytheon chassis is still setting here next to me in my shop area covered in plastic. While in the mean time I've been working on dozens of other projects. To be honest I've found so many old TV's around here that I can't possibly restore them all. But in the larger scheme of things I really do enjoy basking in their presence even though they're not all operational.

Oh I can believe it - I'm living it too ;)
Here's mine from 2015. https://www.videokarma.org/showthread.php?t=265133

I remember that one. Possibly my inspiration for picking this one up. I've been setting at a crossroads wondering what is the point of restoring so many sets for myself, when knowingly their potential new owners would most likely prefer doing the electronics themselves. And I can't honestly watch them all, so I have my favorites and unusual things that I've been focusing on.
