Ref: Midwest TV and Radio in Ohio.

I emailed the seller. He said it is a 14 inch CRT and also that he would hold the set for pickup from a buyer driving to Ohio to the EFT convention in May. Mapquest shows Cincinatti to be about 115 miles from Columbus. Unfortunately its the wrong way from VA. I'm still thinking about it if the price doesn't go too high.

I ACTUALLY had one of these that worked around 1966 and gave it away to get rid of it.

Zenith space command console relisted on LA craigslist at $20, somebody pick this set up before I do. If I get any more consoles I'm back to stacking them one infront of the other again.

The Zenith on the left has the dreaded 19AP4 CRT. It is metal glass CRT like the other dreaded 15GP22 color CRT. Before I would spend $250 on the TV, I would go check the CRT first. They are really nice sets but the CRT is ????

Something is fishy about that ad. The guy is really vague about shipping. One person asked him about a price and he never gave evena roundabout figure. What he did give were dimensions and the wrong weight. He said approx. 60lb. The DuMont chassis probably weighs 60lbs alone, 20 of which is power transformer! The guy wants to make out good on something that will cost a fortune to ship. I hope someone near by wins the thing for $5 and picks it up. He may have to pay a helper to help lift it!! LOL

I didn't know the 19AP4's were that bad. I have heard of them losing vacuum but other than that nothing. The only one I ever owned did have a booster on it come to think of it..Lots of old TV's do though...

That's a real oddball...in a good way! Seems like a lot of sets up there in New England/the northeast, and that is natural, but there don't seem to be many collectors. At least I don't think we have many here on AK?

If this Westinghouse is a rectangular color set it's RARE!!
We need to find out for sure.

The Westinghouse rectangular color set can be very difficult to distinguish from their black & white sets of the same model year, as they look almost alike. This is set was apparently not made the same time as the 22" color set and really looks nothing like it.

Actually, I had a blonde Westinghouse console once upon a time whose top-mounted control layout was virtually identical to the one on the color set, which the ebay set really doesn't have. The color set in the picture Dave A refers to is a dead ringer for my set which was most definitely black & white. What I'm saying is: be very careful using comparison to the picture on Steve D's site to identify a set you think might be the rectangular color Westinghouse. While the ebay set doesn't closely resemble the color set, there are other b & w Westinghouse sets that are dead ringers for it.

Well I just sent the seller a message asking for a model number and a pic of the back, we'll see what happens.

I hope somebody buys that 621 to restore, not just for parts.

The cabinet isn't half as bad as it looks at first glance. Not broken up, all the parts are there. Strip, smooth out some boo-boos, refinish, and you're good to go. The local auto glass shop can make you a new safety glass.

Same with the chassis. Rust can be removed. I don't see any important bits missing. (Isn't that part of the h-v cage sitting off to the side?) The CRT may be dead, but replacements can be found. Unless mice ate some unobtanium piece not shown in these photos, I don't see why it couldn't be brought back to life rather than parted out.
