I think they were 4BE6 and 4BA6, or 3BE6 and 3BA6. They could have used one of the TV IF tubes as the AM IF stage, like in an AM-FM set. And some TV sets used a pentagrid tube for sync circuit work, and with some switching that tube could be used for the AM. Though it may be too much switching.

I own a 1232 and a 1270 both sets have a power transformer, so 6 volt heaters all around. All the best, Tom
