This is an issue that happened when they upgraded Audiokarma, all the icons for the various formatting buttons disappeared.

I still have the labels but they run off the edge of the screen, everything still works, it's just unsightly.

Its sad..... ALL THATS NEEDED IS FOR A STAFF MEMBER (CO-ADMIN OR ADMIN) TO CHANGE ALL THE LINKS TO VIDEOKARMA.ORG AND THEY WILL WORK.......

lnx64 10-14-2016 10:23 PM

I guess this is still an issue, 6 months later?

I'm not seeing an image attachment. :/

Electronic M 10-16-2016 01:03 AM

It seems that VK is an after thought for maintenance...Sad.

Interesting...I can see the picture when I am using the Chrome browser, but not in IE or Firefox.

I'll attach it just as a thumbnail to click on this time.

Dude111 10-21-2016 05:06 AM

Im very surprised Dave didnt fix this a couple weeks back??

Jon A. 03-03-2017 05:44 PM

I'm getting a 403 "Forbidden" error when trying to upload another avatar. I've cleared site cookies, no dice. I guess someone's been playing with mod_security.

Working now obviously, not yet sure why. I contacted Ernie (luvvinvinyl) about it, I assume he took care of it.

Dude111 03-08-2017 09:24 AM

Im glad it works for ya now Jon :)

Electronic M 08-23-2017 02:40 PM

I can't edit my posts, much of my user profile, and it seems my PM box is not usable....Can someone fix this?

Kamakiri 08-23-2017 05:53 PM

I don't see anything wrong....screen shot what you're getting.....

First pic is what I get when I try to edit anything in my profile, second shows there is no edit button for my posts, third shows my PM box (0 messages allowed WTH?).

I've ignored this for a while, but it is becoming a substantial nuisance.

Yep, your account is fudged up.. Had to deal with this when I used to run a proboard.

Kamakiri 08-24-2017 08:18 AM

Don't see anything wrong, so I shouted out to Wardsweb.....

Kamakiri 08-24-2017 08:15 PM

Should be all fixed now, have a look and let me know....

Jon A. 09-17-2017 11:29 PM

I can't upload attachments or make additions to my profile album, I get the following "Forbidden" errors:

You don't have permission to access /newattachment.php on this server.

You don't have permission to access /album.php on this server.

Edit: funny, it worked for the thread I just made and Wardsweb hasn't even read my message.

Kamakiri 09-18-2017 10:50 AM

Drop a PM to Wardsweb. I can't see anything wrong in the Admin console that would cause it :dunno:

Jon A. 09-19-2017 12:20 AM

At this time Wardsweb hasn't yet read my message but I found the problem on my own, turns out the board was choking on the apostrophe in a file name. Two other photos uploaded successfully, so I tried the problematic photo again and still stalled out. I renamed the file and it finally took off.

Videokarma.org site error

Whenever I try to log in to Videokarma.org using the Microsoft Edge browser, I consistently get an error message: "Your connection isn't private. . . ." Is there any way I can log in to this site using Microsoft Edge without constantly getting this error? I would like to be able to have a desktop icon on Microsoft Edge which will connect me to Videokarma.org without seeing this error. It doesn't seem right to me this icon should be causing an error anyway.

Thanks much for any assistance.

Using Edge, I get the exclamation point in a triangle with "Not secure" up in the URL field, but no message in the center of the screen, same as with Chrome. Can you detail exactly the steps you are using to accessing the site?

lnx64 03-05-2023 08:28 PM

That error is simply because they don't have an https version of the site for encryption, basically whatever your password is, it can be read in plaintext when you log in, that's the primary downfall to the lack of https (if you happen to use the same password elsewhere, which I don't usually recommend doing anyway). Whatever we type here in public obviously is already public, but also things like DM's can be read as well during the network transfer. That's why Edge says this, but I never get this popup and I use Edge as well on Windows 11, most I see is "Not secure" in the top left, nothing ever more.

The message I am receiving is "Your connection isn't private." The message goes on to explain the site could be accessed by hackers, etc., which stops me dead in my tracks. There is also a message detailing the hazards of logging in to the site; however, it does give the user an option to log in anyway, again with a warning that the site could be accessed by hackers and such.

I simply would like to log in to the FCC's license renewal site so I can renew my amateur radio license. I do not want any trouble with this when the time comes to renew the license in just over a year from now. What ever happened to the option the FCC used to have for amateur licenses, in which the licensee could renew the license literally any time before it expires? Now they are making licensees jump though hoops and everything else, just to renew the license. I could renew my license by mail, using FCC Form 605; the way things are going with online renewal, this could be my only other option. I may use that option anyway, as I am fed up with having to go around in circles.

However, I am thinking I may be worrying for nothing. After all, it is nowhere near time to renew yet, since my license will not expire for over a year; in fact, if I try to renew now, I may get a message online to that effect. Doesn't the FCC have a system whereby they will alert amateurs with licenses about to expire that it is coming close to time to renew? If so, I would like to know about it. As I mentioned earlier, I would rather not apply for a new license if I can avoid it.

Thanks and 73,

Repeating that you are getting this message does not help anyone help you. Please answer the question of exactly what steps you are using to access VideoKarma.

old_tv_nut 03-06-2023 12:32 PM

Jeff, are you still here? Are you going to help us diagnose your problem or just leave in silence?

Dude111 03-07-2023 04:48 PM

Jeff just ignore the message!!!

Its scare mongering........ This site is NO LESS SECURE than it ever was!!

Guys, today March 30, 2023 is the first time in about a full year that I've been able to access this site with any browser (Firefox, Edge, Chrome). Before this I would just get a placeholder page saying something about yes, you have reached the server. Does anyone know what happened?

Electronic M 04-01-2023 12:01 AM

Strange. I've never that problem. The closest thing was one day a couple of months ago when they were doing server maintenance and all I got was the homepage saying that the server was too busy...That issue went away in a day. Did you try from a different computer or device when you were having the issue?

mr_rye89 04-01-2023 10:48 AM

I haven’t encountered any hiccups with the site lately and I’ve been using Brave/Safari on my IPhone and Firefox on the laptop. I can even upload pics from the phone just fine.

Yes, I did. I tried from my phone as well as the computer at work. Same thing. My ID nor password were changed. As soon as AK updated their server a couple of days ago, I got access here at VK. :screwy:

We've had access the whole time.

But as an IT person, I will say this, the server software is old. The DNS entries are a bit "off" (which might have been your problem, DNS related to the strange entries I see), along with no HTTPS support whatsoever but browsers never ditched non HTTPS, they just issue a small warning and that's the end of it, but some people are running into weird persistent warnings as well while others aren't.

I think VK needs to check their DNS, something's not right, because www.videokarma.org and videokarma.org are *not* the same, even though they are the same (that's the misconfiguration, www.videokarma.org always works, but if you don't use the www. portion, sometimes it works, sometimes it doesn't, but you can be logged into www.videokarma.org, and go to videokarma.org and it treats you like you're signed out even though it's the same site, also a DNS issue causing the cookies not to be pulled (usually not entering www. should forward you to the www. version but they have no such redirector which is why sometimes you also get signed out clicking on links here when a link goes to the non www. version). (You can see this effect here in my screenshot: https://i.imgur.com/a8bKGU8.png This is the only site I've seen which behaves this way and it's always a DNS issue so I bet there lies the issue in why some people have issues while others keep not having a single issue).

(PPS: nslookup will show videokarma.org does have www. as an alias, however usually we use redirectors to prevent issues, there is no such redirector, it's setup as an alias which is part of the issue, that's the old way but with websites like this that use cookies for login information you can't use an alias you must use a redirector or the cookies will fail to load entirely).

Dude111 04-08-2023 09:56 AM

Yup it looks at the cookie differently...

If you login to www.videokarma.org you will need to RE-LOGIN if you goto http://videokarma.org (No WWW)
