Curious if anyone will be there anytime on Thursday afternoon or evening? A few of us that will be in early will be meeting up. Probably doing lunch on Friday too depending on how things go. My cell is (315)879-5518.....feel free to give me a ring or send me a text anytime Thursday or Friday. Think we might be going out for some famous chili or chili dogs or something? :burp:

Gregb 04-28-2015 09:59 PM

I really wanted to make it down to the convention this year but just can't do it. I would be forever grateful if someone would be willing to watch for a couple of CRT's for me. I am in need of all or any one of the following in very good used or NOS condition.
21AP4, 21EQP4, and 21EAP4.
Thanks

Gregb

Did someone mention SkyLine Chilli ?

http://www.skylinechili.com/locations.php?zip=43026

This alone is worth a trip to Ohio, and I need my fix before the convention . . . .

Jas.

Kamakiri 04-29-2015 08:17 AM

That's it! That's the place :)

Note to self: buy a big bottle of Beano

Will you be going? I was running around in overload mode last year....just WAY too much to take in! This year I'm hoping to be a lot more relaxed :)

Yup!
And just printed out my Videokarma Avatar to tape on to my badge, so I won't be in disguise this year. :nono:

With SkyLine you won't need the Beano . . . . and if you still think you might, you can order the four way without beans . . . .

Yeah, well, I sleep in the basement on my recliner on the weekends for two reasons. The first is because I like to pass out watching Lockup reruns on my '57 Zenith 21" B/W.

The second reason is that we usually have pizza or tacos for dinner Saturday. Um....yeah.

I won't be wearing the uniform of a Starfleet officer or anything, but I'm easy to spot. Just look for the bald guy :)

Username1 04-29-2015 02:54 PM

You guys have fun ! !

I'm savin up for a squirrel suit......

Then I'll make a trip out there.....

old_tv_nut 04-29-2015 08:00 PM

I'll be driving in Friday- so enjoy your Thursday shenanigans and I'll see if you survived.

rld-tv01 04-29-2015 09:25 PM

I'm already at the airport but will be coming indirect Long Beach to JFK to Washington Dulles. I'm staying in Maryland tomorrow night and will be at ETF Friday.

kramden66 04-30-2015 08:30 AM

lot #47 zenith or as it says on the site zeniuth - thats the tv i watched until it was replaced by a zenith hybrid color set but it was still used until 84/85 when the fly went south.

DavGoodlin 04-30-2015 01:11 PM

If see a 19” 1963 Motorola TS584 BW metal set, or even just cabinet parts, I’m very interested.
Mine is missing the UHF knobset and three C-B-V smooth chromed knobs below speaker and the whole silver plastic front is busted at a corner.
It was picked up by the handle, which let go and dropped 5 feet onto the road, but the battle-axe still works.
Safe trip to ETF, go easy on the chili, diversify for health 

I need a yellow minion suit with a big batwing on it before I show up there

Kamakiri 04-30-2015 09:12 PM

Well, had a fun afternoon working hard at the Museum today. BigAudioAl, Rodmonster, and I met up with Dave S for a late dinner :)

Hopefully see more of you guys here tomorrow! :)

Sandy G 04-30-2015 10:17 PM

Look, you guys have an EXTREMELY LARGE Time there ! I'd give almost anything to be there w/you..

rca2000 04-30-2015 10:44 PM

I look about like I did last year but a bit SMALLER now. Probably 10 pounds smaller or so.

Same ol' beat-up red minivan...but it GETS ME THERE..and is PAID FOR too.

I will be there sometime tomorrow evening--hopefully by 7-8PM. Staying till Sunday afternoon this time around.

rca2000 05-01-2015 11:38 PM

I BARELY made it up this time!!

PROBLEMS...PROBLEMS !!

I thought I would not make it in time for the auction. I SHOULD have been here about 8Pm tonight. That WAS the plan..but it did NOT work out that way ..

Tire problem..then WHEEL problem...

But I AM here.. Thank the LORD !!

I will bring my auction items in the morning.

Kamakiri 05-02-2015 10:07 PM

Welp, I bought the CTC-7 Stanford ( http://www.earlytelevision.org/reita..._21CD8775.html ), A Dumont Doghouse, an Admiral 19A11 chassis, the correct table for my 8TS30, a bubble magnifier, two other consoles, a GE 10" table model, bunches of tubes, and about 600 lb worth of broadcast gear including 3 IVC 500-A color broadcast cameras. Plus other stuff that's so buried in my car I couldn't even get to it.

Had a friend with a box truck there to grab my consoles. Having serious doubt that I can fit my suitcase in the car at this point

...and back towards home tomorrow evening. Was sure great hanging out with you guys :)

rca2000 05-02-2015 10:27 PM

Nice seeing you again Tim !! And again THANK YOU..for finding a buyer for my 4 !!

vts1134 05-03-2015 07:59 AM

Is anyone heading home through, or close to, Pittsburgh that has room for a 10" table top set? I had to leave abruptly in the middle of the night last night and left a set behind that I won in the auction. If anyone can help I would be very indebted. Just give me a call or text seven two four four nine three four two one one.

vts1134 05-03-2015 09:19 AM

I can even meet someone at the New Stanton exit if they are headed east on 70/76/PA Turnpike.

Kamakiri 05-03-2015 02:28 PM

I had no idea what was going on with the set after the auction or I'd have tried to make a connection for you. As it was they were rushing us out the door so they could lock up. We had to rush out consoles out into the parking lot so they could close the overhead door. Loaded like 6 consoles in the back of a box truck and by the time we got done, I ended up missing out on the ETF dinner :(

Same here. I'm in the Worthington area (but Hilliard is my hometown) -- where are you?

Man, that ETF museum was fantastic. Overwhelming number of sets in the museum. Color wheels working, CT-100 working, tons of pre-war sets - working and even a few mechanical sets working. Amazing stuff. Had a great time. Then add on top of that the auction, silent auction, swap meet and private sales - I could have come home with a dozen sets!!!! I was a good boy and only picked up three.

Private sale of a practically PERFECT 1959 Zenith
Nice little 7 inch Motorola that I won in the silent auction
Private sale of a Pilot TV-37.

Also scored a nice Admiral record player/AM radio tabletop model, few albums and a ton of tubes.

GREAT trip. Even liked helping out the museum gang set up on Thursday and Friday. Although I tried to avoid the heavy lifting with my back issues. Left that up to Kamakiri and Rodmonster. :D

BigDavesTV 05-06-2015 10:14 AM

It was a great time, and it was fun visiting with everyone that I already know, and meeting my fellow VK'ers, Rodmonster and Bigaudioal, for the first time. I look forward to this meet every year, it's a must attend for me! I came home with a couple sets I'm thrilled about, a metal cabinet RCA CTC 10A from the Silent auction, and a Sharp color portable 15" from 1972, that has tubes in it, from the Flea Market!

Posting this 1958 TV Guide ad for your recently acquired RCA "Sanford" CTC-7.
Notice both you and the ETF call it the "Stanford" model. Great consolette. I always admired it when visiting Ed Reitan's apt. in Westwood, Ca.
Great to finally meet you at the ETF convention this year. Very happy you were able to have the winning bid on the color set. I know you really wanted it for your collection.

Kamakiri 05-06-2015 12:59 PM

Sure did, and thanks for the correction on the name. I just called it that because that's what it was labeled.

Sanford, hm? Kinda fits me. Sanford, Fred G. :)

The name mix up makes me think there should be a "you big dummy!" in there somewhere.
