Twilight Zone made it to color... It was called "Night Gallery", and I loved watching it at like 2 AM on our cheesy UHF station.

We get the Night Gallery here too, 11PM weeknights on ch 56, I'm usually working at my desk (where I have a b/w Zenith) at that time though, so I almost never see it in color.

I was reviewing this thread thinking what to get to watch on my CTC-10. I will add that if you like old cartoons, I've been watching this one called Tennessee Tuxedo (from 1963) on the CTC-10 and, it's a good one for looking at on the old color sets. That's the show in the pics of the set working I put in my ctc-10 thread.

Anybody else see the irony in using a penguin to show off a color set?

Though I don't have an early color set, I've lately been enjoying the DVD & VHS releases of the Tennessee Ernie Ford show. The estate is selling a bunch of them from 1960-61 on their website and what's nice is that they're complete with the peacock, commercials, slides, etc. I will say the DVDs seem overly compressed, especially the audio, so the VHSs may be a better choice.

And since the videotaped commercials were rolled into the live show, you get a chance to see what an early color-to-color dub looked like., i.e., not so good.

Here in Brazil, in the 1950's, people used to put those porcelan penguins on the top of their refrigerators.

I think here was the only country where such a silly thing was done.

DVD's of either or both of these programs would be great on an old color set; I know a number of both have been restored, PBS has shown exceprts on the pledge drives and specials.

The Andy Williams Show is on DVD--sort of. There are two different sets--two discs with three shows each. They're labeled as full episodes but in fact they've been hacked to bits--I figure about half the running time is gone--and in weird ways. Solos by Andy are cut but a dance routine with Mary Tyler Moore is there. (OK by me!) But they do have the peacock, the opening and closing credits, and they look very good. Netflix them before you buy them.
