Did you move the test plug around on the pins to make sure there wasnt an intermittent connection? I run into this alot. Anytime I test a tube that has a glowing heater and ZERO emission I check (wiggle) things out. CRT's are the worst because the old ones like we deal with have a nasty habbit of the plug's epoxy/adhesive giving out and the plug is free to move around usually marginal pin soldering. In other words intermittent connection.

Also it is possible for the tester to have a problem. I only say this because if I were to test a crt with my old Sylvania I would get ZERO emission with a lit heater. I was fooled until I checked other tubes and found out my adapter harness has some stupid resistor of unknown value that has cracked in two. Oh well, maybe one day I'll find a schematic for the tester, or better yet a spare harness.

I hate the thought of this sitting outside in rainy Seattle. A few months ago a similar set was sitting under a pump carport of an old gas station made into an "antique" store. It was close to the road of course and looked as if nobody could possibly care if you loaded it up and gave it a home before the elements got the best of it. Something told me that I didnt want to go to jail over a 50 year old TV that some "antique" dealer cherished enough to put out in the rain (virtually). I slipped a note under the door of the place and explained that I would like to have the set and left my phone #. After a couple of weeks of not getting a call I went by and found the man running the place. The set was gone. He pointed at the dump site right across the highway and told me that he could not call my long distance # and had tossed the set in the crusher bins only a day or two prior. What a BUMMER!!:no:

Actually on another night before I found the man I stopped by with my flashlight because it had rained a night or two before. The sets veniering had already started to buckle. What a waste!!:thumbsdn:

To end with an irony the man who tossed it told me that I SHOULD have loaded it up when I first found it and that anything out there was open territory. Geezz.

Maybe one day there will be a pile of Predictas sitting out there in payment for my honest LOSS.....
