Man, you don't see these often. I hope someone picks up the complete set. The seller says he might part it out. Just the facts mam: 1957 Admiral "Regent" consolette model C322C2 in grained mahogany. 21AXp22A picture tube. retailed for $499.95.

this one is actually about 4 hours from me. Hummmmm

BUT...!! does not have a 21axp22 installed..
look close at the pics..but still an interesting set..

Terry, i'm assuming you are looking at the ground spring running across the tube?

I wonder how this set ever used a metal tube what with that big metal shield that is placed right against the bell of the tube?
Conversion kit?

I've sent a message to the seller requesting that he check the number on the tube neck and get back to me. Will see what happens.

The seller has put up sets for sale on Ebay before. Kind of out of the way for most of us east/west coasters. If I were still in Texas I would go for it.

I have EBAY emailed two folks this week about different sets and not got a reply. They seem to have a as seen as is condition method of selling. Having a picture with the back off and listing the current CRT would greatly help. I also explained that I am very interested and need more information. Am going to attempt to email those folks again tonight. If you do not ask you never know!!!!

i had enlarged the photos at work and can clearly see it is not a 21axp22,and it looks as thought the spring is being used to ground the outer coating of the picture tube.also if you look closely the gun assy does not have the double glass supports that a 21axp22 would...but i could be wrong though,the convergence yoke assy looks the same as the one for a ctc-5,i wonder if all convergence is set with DC,instead of a magnet above each pole piece

I'm still waiting for a reply from the seller on this. LOL. Did Admiral produce their own color tubes under license? Or did they use RCA produced tubes? If they manufactured their own, might this explain some subtle differences in the look of the tube or it's associated hardware:dunno: Maybe some one out there can answer this. Of course if a forum member gets this set all will be clear.:p:

TV set is up to $250 aleardy!! Any information from the seller yet?
It is a nice looking set though.

I finally recevied a reply from the seller of this '57 Admiral color set. He states that he checked the number on the neck of the tube and it is a 21AXp22A and is the original tube. He goes on to say: "The plastic pronged end of the picture tube does have a small broken piece that is a jagged piece about 1/2" at its widest point. And there is an old bug nest that made its home in there years ago, and there is no reason to mess with it because the tube still works and it doesn't interfere with the performance of the tube." I appreciate the sellers time and honesty in his reply.

Well I suppose it could be the metal tube, but there would have to be some sort of shield over it where that spring is sitting.

Good to see that Steve McVoy has won the bidding on the Admiral. This will be a nice addition to the ETF color collection. I'm sure we'll all follow the restoration of this rare set with interest. Congratulations Steve.

I had the high bid on that set, for three days, right up till 2 minuites to the end of the auction, and at that time ,i was driving home from work, and had no way of knowing i had lost it, 'till i got home.

At least, it is in good hands. Probably better hands than mine, as now it will be there for ALL to see, and not in my basement, where I was planning to put it. Steve will also have more time, knowledge, and money, to bring it back to its former glory, than I would have, SO, all in all, I am not really THAT disappointed.

At least, it won't be far away from me( under 2 hours to columbus), so, i can see it , hopefully working ,sometime.

I agree. You know,The second high bidder rebsar is someone that I know, And if he got it all it would have done is sit in his basement untouched and unseen until he passes away!
He even admits to this, And figures his kids will just throw the stuff out when he is gone!!

I appreciate everyone's attitude. I hope to restore this set and put it on display. Don't forget the 2004 Convention - April 24 and 25 in Columbus. We will have the CBS field sequential color system on display, with our Gray Research monitor and at least one CBS receiver. We hope to have a camera working by then.
