ok it is election night ..so how are you watching the results?
No matter what happens today there will eb a new President in the US... so a question to you guys in the States...
what television will you watch the results of the race(s)on? |
Old TV's are to small for my getting old eyes.. I'll be watching it on my Sharp Aquos LC-52D64U.
...at 1080i of course.. |
Thinking of going somewhere just to get out of the house.
|
Probably a '65 Zenith roundie and stereo combo. I've been using it quite bit lately. The picture is awesome although I can see a recap coming in it's near future, vertical is starting to get short and cannot be corrected. All the roundies I have will be recapped by the time winter is over. I hope to have the whole room full of them running when analog goes. I will record the event.
|
i'm watching it on a 1976 Philips K11 right now!
|
I personally wouldn't waste the heater emission of a vintage CRT watching election results, but maybe I will fire up my little GE Portacolor (tube type, of course). Otherwise, I will be watching on my 36 inch Sony CRT tv that weighs a gazillion pounds. When it dies, it is leaving in pieces.
Football games are another story! Old color CRT's like them! Kevin |
pioneer 64" hdtv..............
|
Ashamed to say I plan on getting my info from Google Maps... :(
But hey, probably on a CRT :) |
In the living room with my wife, laptop on Real Clear Politics, "old" Sony Wega 48" flatscreen TV, and my old pal Mr. Woodford, "Reserve" that is.

Hey, it's just a joke. Just trying to inject a little humor into the night. It is just a coincidence though. I do have my 38+ year old B&W basic portable shop TV with it's chest open at the moment. Just a dead tube I hope. I just may go down to the basement and see if I can replace the tube and tune in some happy results. |
Probably on a 1977 Zenith 17" Chromacolor II with a dying CRT. It's been on all day (although I have not been watching it) and if it can take all this election coverage, it should last from now on, LOL!
|
Perfect timing, I will be watching the new Blu-Ray release of "Get Smart" on my Big Screen.
Oxymoron? :scratch2: |
I'm OD'd on the whole subject, so I will spend quality time at the bench.
Years ago I was privy to how the coverage was choreographed as to holding back numbers to create a sense of drama. So now I will check on the results tomorrow morning as things shake themselves out. The issue that most directly affects me is an elementary school district bond issue ($50 million) that was uncharacteristically quiet. Those results I will get online, on my 1999's crt computer monitor from the county election board website. |

'70 model Zenith with a 12A12C52 chassis. Been using it as a daily watcher since August of '06. My favorite set I have too! The green halo isn't as bad as the pic shows. Its been a great TV.
|
I'll let them sort it out a bit and will check the 10 o'clock news. Right now I'm gonna go watch my daughter's volleyball team whoopass.
|
On a TV that will probably look like this one when it's over:

http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v6...AyNDguanBn.jpg Actually, I only turned those sets on so I could shoot the last analog-election coverage... I'm really watching this... (But I did vote this morning) http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v6...AyNDAuanBn.jpg It's Detroit Heat, (1974) an awesome Blacksplotation movie on the local UHF station! |
I was watching the returns on my RCA CTC185 from about 6:30 this evening, but after about two and a half hours I gave up and decided to wait until all results are in. I don't think even the 10 p.m. news (there are two such newscasts in this area, on channels 8 and 43) will have the full results because the polls on the West Coast are just closing at that hour (three hours time difference). Will probably wait until tomorrow and watch the final outcome on the noon news on channel 3, although it will certainly be in the morning paper on the front page as well, in a headline with letters six inches high.

I'm watching it on two CTC53s, a CTC55, and a Sharp XG-P25X on the big screen. Of course it will be the last over the air election for the RCAs.
|
Samsung HDTV. Pretty scary....
|
i m with carmine.detroit heat is a good movie.the zenith roundie rules all!!!!!
|
I'm watching the kids. My wife is watching the returns on a Pioneer PDP-4312 Plasma monitor.
|
Actually, all the TV's got some action tonight. A 17" 77 Zenith CCII, a 23" Zenith CCII console from '76, a 19" RCA XL100 from 1980, and an '85 19" Sony Trinitron.
|
Just updating the CNN page for my zip code every once and a while...
|
Watching the new president on the 1966 Port-a-color now. Mixed feelings, but lookin' surprisingly good for a GE!
|
I don't watch television except the Weather Channel. I don't have to. Everyone else seems to want to keep me informed.
|
I watched on a small b&w GE set I got sometime ago. Picture was okay.
David |
I wish I could watch it on this set!

That is one of the coolest TV placement I have seen in real life!

Someone at AK mentioned that he had the same model of RCA TV as the one Elvis shot. That the King must have had as much trouble trying to get it to work as the Aker had... You realize that the DTV transition will happen during the next administration... |
Watched part of it on my '74 Philcomatic III, but turned it off to listen to music.
|
Watched it last night on a 2002 RCA Scenium 52-in. CRT projection running picture-in-picture (watching ABC and FOX simultaneously); this is the twilight of that mode: no more OTA PIP ever again in just three short months.
|
Watched a movie, went to bed, saw the results in the paper this morning.

not quite so. You'll need two CECBs! One set to RF output applied to the antenna connector of the set, the second applied to the video input of the same set. Rob |
On my B&W set, of course! :D
|
Didn't watch... However, had I thought about it, it would have been a historic event to watch the acceptance speech on my Zenith Roundie, which very possibly also showed live speech(s) by Martin Luther King Jr in it's newer days.... I wonder how many color TVs could boast that? Dream envisioned 1960s; Dream realized 2008.

I sat and gritted my teeth in front of my computer through 2 hours of it, and was pleasantly surprised when my candidate WON! :thmbsp::smoke:
