Yes, I do plan to be there for Saturday and Sunday, through I'm at the mercy of the scheduler in my 24/7 office (weekends off not assured, through I should have an answer by next Monday).
I hope many others are there, and plan to pick a lot of brain.
Any advice for "first time" ETC attendees?

Yes, Bring $25 for the entrance fee.

I hope to attend this one of these years. I had hoped to come to this one but financial obligations got in the way again. I do hope to visit the museum in the next month or so.

I will be there. Had to skip last year, and regretted it.

Here's an idea. If you attend, write your forum name on your name tag under your real name.

Otherwise, I might be familiar with someone as "tvzombie" or whatever from a forum, but never guess that I'm standing next to him.

That's a great idea, I'll do it.

What if we don't WANT you to know you're standing next to us? :D

Look for the old_tv_nut label

How about changing you forum alias to your REAL NAME ?? !! What are you hiding?

ohohyodafarted 04-16-2009 12:47 PM

But John....what fun would there be in that??? I like the controversary that my handle creates. Some folks even hate it. It gives me an insite into their tollerance level for off color humor.

I'll never tell!

By the way, "John Folsom," what's your real name?

bgadow 04-16-2009 10:42 PM

I seem to recall at the convention I attended I confused old_tv_nut with old_tv_man. You do have to be careful walking up to someone and saying, "hey, aren't you 'TV Nut?" If you pick the wrong guy, oops!

Guess I'll miss yet another year. Too much else going on that weekend, as if my wife would really let me get away by myself for that long!

zenithfan1 04-17-2009 10:49 AM

Why can't you bring your wife? Would she go with you to something like this? I was hoping you would come, I'd like to meet you in person. Much easier than typing out conversation, fingers get tired but my mouth don't:)

I brought her along last time; pretty miserable for her as she grew bored with it quick; it was a dreary day, besides. I tried hard to convince her to drive over to the zoo or the JCPenney outlet but she was afraid of getting lost. We will actually be in Columbus just weeks after the convention, same as last year-it is much easier to schedule my week off for Memorial day. I would like to meet more folks in person; It would also be great to haul a packed pickup truck load of stuff out there to sell!

Hey, that Air-King that needs saving is just a few miles to the east of Columbus.

Hi Bryan,

Suggestion: invite her best friend along. They will chat all day, perhaps shop & get to that zoo.

Steve, maybe as the ETF Convention grows over time, we should have a "Ladies program" like the NAB, IBC or SMPTE meetings!

Best Regards

Jerome, that is an excellent idea. Unfortunately, I just don't have the time to do it. If someone (wife of a collector) would volunteer to run it, I could give them ideas of places to visit and things to do.
