Who made the console TV that fit in a corner?
 

I know I've seen a photo . . . but where, and what brand?

RCA? Magnavox?

They all fit in a corner; my old Zenith roundie did just fine. But an old tomcat I had used to filch food off the counter and run underneath that set to eat it. And it was a good five-foot reach to get at the varmint to reclaim any food as he lay in refuge in that corner.

Don't think I've ever seen a pie-shaped set designed specifically for the "kitty corner" application.

There used to be a gutted corner cabinet at a local antique mall. I never did look to see if it still had any labels as to the make. The last time I was at that mall it was gone. It was blonde and would have had a rectangular CRT.

Magnavox made one in the late 40s, RCA had a B &W model in the 50s. Also, Ambassador made one in England around 1950:

Zenith made a System 3 that was curved and RCA made a set that was triangled on both ends. The Zenith was one that had the 9-160 module in it.
Very awkward to carry...

Yep, I remember seeing that oddly shaped RCA. The back had 45 degree sides to fit perfectly in a corner.

I have 2 of those system 3 zeniths stacked in a corner of my room. May have to retire them soon...

The set you are talking about is a later rca 50's b@w. There was one on the buffalo craigs list a couple weeks ago. I should have bought it but it looked like it had water damage and my place is full up to the rafters again.

There was also a Philco Predicta "Miss America" set that was also built at a 45 degree angle. The styling was very similar to the RCA. Still kickin myself for selling it... :(

There was a console radio or two made to fit in a corner: one I think was a Stromberg-Carlson, late '30's or early '40's.

From a mid 1950's RCA print ad:

"Malvern, 21T847, 21"* "Custom Corner" TV, 262 sq. in. viewable area. Walnut grained finish with blond face. $289.95"

(BTW, the same ad features the Aldrich and Anderson color models).

Interesting to see all thise corner TVs coming out of the woodwork. And even more interesting to hear about Stromberg-Carlson coming up with a corner cabinet; S-C was noted for their labyrinth reflex systems, and this must have been a challenge...

The Philco corner set... was on ebay about 5 years ago...
