CTC-5 $200 Denver craigslist
|
Nice 'Whitby' Deluxe :thmbsp:
|
Oh boy; if that were a little closer! That's my favorite CTC-5, and I've never owned that cabinet.

If it were local, I'd already be on my way with a rent-a-van, but that's a 3,000 mile round trip over mountains. More than my rear end could stand.
Are those books sitting on top of the cabinet? Phil Nelson |
That sure is pretty! Love to dive in to that chassis and restore it.

I'd give my EYETEETH...But Denver...Damthing may as well be on the far side of th' bleedin' Moon...(sigh)
|
I know what you mean. I am getting ready to go and get my set, probably Thursday or Friday. It is not NEARLY as nice as this one--but it is a 5--and I have wanted one for over 30 years.
I too would like this one--but like you--WAAAYYYY too far away!! Hopefully, one of "us" will grab, and save it!! |

I am not seeing a BIN price in the eBay listing. The craigslist ad still says $200.
Phil |
The BIN went away because someone bid.
I have a feeling they'll be wishing they paid the $699 before this auction ends. |
Fully functional? wow...

"When You Snooze ... "
Yesterday, the $200 listing on CraigsList changed to:
This posting has been deleted by its author. (The title on the listings page will be removed in just a few minutes.) The 'Bay listing is still active and is currently at $110 with seven bidders and five days left to go. How high will it go? Best wishes, |
I dunno, but dollar to a donut sez you can prolly add a "zero" on the end of what it currently is...

I'm glad to see there's some interest. That's why I mentioned the listing in the first place. It's a set worth preserving. I'd rather see another collector get it than have it end up as a fishtank in some Denver hair salon.

Bidding weak (economy + remote Denver location)
|
Something like that, I guess.
First, I get my CTC-5D for under $200. I have seen MUCH worse examples of 5's sell, in the last 5 years or so, for MORE than 1K!! In particular--a table--model "special" sold on the bay about 4 years or so ago--not in great physical shape and with a DEAD tube--and it sold for over $1000!! Mine is a console, and it went for MUCH less--with an unknown tube. Then tonight..a VERY nice, deluxe,5.. in a NICE cabinet with a GOOD tube-- sells for $712. It was worth DOUBLE that!! Either the economy...or interest in pre-1960 color sets has died out. At the very least...it allowed me to finally join the "5 club"!! I now have a pre-1960's color set myself...after waiting since 1979. |
