Rebuilt 15GP22's!
|
these criminals have been discussed ad nauseum.
|
Those must have been the 15GP22's destined for export to So. Africa
|
who are these guys?? They rebuild CRT's? Wouldn't they know if they have spent "years" in research, they would know that a 15GP22 is a color tube?? WOW!
|
It is funny that they can get thier apparent scheme to look quite professional in most every way but list the color tubes under B&W. How can they get away with what seems like a crime?(I have not read previous posts yet but obviously they are criminals or the previous comment would not have been made.)
|
I sent them a message, let's see what they say!
"I see that you rebuild the 15GP22, 21AXP22, and 21CYP22 B&W tube: http://www.wmicronics.com/rebuilttubes.htm How much does this service typically cost?" lol |

Took off my Nerd hat and put my Geek hat on, went lookin' on the inter-nets:

Somewhere there is another thread about these guys. They don't rebuild tubes, and probably don't even exist as a going company.

for us less geeky ones what does all that mean? |

Wait, what? Are you saying the entire site is fake? |
It looks like an abandoned website for a business that never got off the ground. Their home page is dated 2006 and says they were negotiating to build a facility at that time.

Bet they get nervous when people from the antique community start crashing their place, asking questions. lol
|
I have tried to call them on several occasions and ask a few questions to see if they know what they are talking about. Both numbers (toll free & regular) ring but are never answered-not even an answering machine.
They also claim they set up CRT rebuilding facilities and offer a 8 week training course. Nice time to go into this business! |
Lots of TV shops around the country bought basic rebuilding units in the 60s and 70s. I don't know for sure but I suspect that most were never real successful at the process. I can think of various scenerios involving an old TV shop with one of these rigs-just one, pure speculation: "junior" graduates college, comes home to take over the reins at the family shop, sees that old rebuilding rig over in the corner and starts asking questions. After much googling he determines that there is $$$ to be made. He gets the website setup but soon finds out just why Pop left that rig to gather dust back in '78. Took 3 tries to rebuild a 25v and then after installing it in a customers set (and collecting good money for it) 2 weeks go by and the neck is purple. Pop mentions that this same thing happened 30 years ago. End of story. Again, I'm just making this all up!

A response!!!
THE C.A.R.I.B.E GROUP of COMPANIES to me "We will be able to give you a price by the end of next month." I'm so sure... lol |
I have called the number and got a voicemail. The recording sounded very unprofessional. The company is now called Seneca Micronics.
