Very fair price, worth a drive for somebody. Unless I'm mistaken, this is not a clone but an Admiral designed chassis.

New user here. I just bought that TV yesterday. 5/28/11. Paid $40 for it grinning all the way to the car! It's a model CK2200. Mfg in 1967. Metal (black) cabinet tabletop model. Sold for $299 brand new. Model name is called "the Wardell". Use's the 21FBP22a pic tube. It's missing the 6le8. Will get one on Tuesday. I can get ANY NOS tube you need. I have a few sources here. Let me know. Those legs are from home depot LOL. Will need to find some better ones. Will do a full restoration if the CRT is in good shape. Has not been used since the 1980's. All parts are there including the tar and nicotine. Will let you know when it works and post pics.

I don't see many old TV's here. I bought a 1949 Motorola set for $50 last year. It works but needs a few caps. I've seen a lot of old ones at the dump but they wont let you touch them. There is too much wastefulness in this country(cash for clunkers comes to mind). I also work on newer plasma and lcd tv's. They fail anywhere from 1 to 5 years and most are too expensive to repair. They are made to throw away! That's why I like the old "American made" sets that you can easily work on and last for 40 plus years! I don't expect that service from my Sony LCD but I can still watch this admiral for years after the Sony is dead!

Congradulations on the save and welcome! You could take those legs and paint them a shiny black to match the cabinet. Keep us informed!

Is it a 21FBP22A for sure?
 

Hi........I enlarged the pic but it was out of focus. Seems it has the start of some cataracts around the screen periphery and the screen has a slightly green cast. My two 21FBP22s had a taped-on safety glass that don't cataract. How did you determine it is a 21FBP22A? Was the neck and/or base labeled or thru some other positive identification in the cabinet. If the screen is light gray it may be a rare-earth. Please let us know........Tom

There is a label. Dated from 1966. Here's a couple of pics. Tube is gray not green. Has the rubber gasket for the lens so no cataracts.

Well that settles that. The re posted picture of the TV still looks like a green screen to me. Have you tested the crt yet? You've got a great find there if it is a good gray screen.

no tests yet. I will be doing tests this week. I think the digital camera along with the tar and nicotine make it look a little green. But it definitely looks gray to the naked eye. Hoping for the best for the CRT. They don't grow on tree's anymore.

Nice find! And it is a metal cabinet table model which makes it both somewhat rare, and more compact than most of it's wood cabinet bretheren. I love my 1963 silvertone metal cabinet roundy for the same reason.

It works!!! Not too shabby!! 1 bad 3aT2. Had the power switch go(smoke and arcing). replaced it with a NOS. Got lucky on that one! Good HV. Brightness is decent. Tint does not work. 6LE8? Will have to dive into it more. Color is good for having no tint control. My camera does not like to take good pics of this TV. Sorry. Convergence seems good.

Found the problem with the tint control. Wire pulled through solder at the pot. Quick re-solder and wa-la working tint. Will need to pull the CRT and clean the lens. filmy residue around the edge probably due to the oil coming from the gasket. It leaked into the bottom of the cabinet. :(

Same thing is going on with my Philco metal cab roundie, the CRT gasket has this icky goo coming off it but I don't care that much about it to go fixing it. Besides, the convergence is *perfect* and I'd kick myself if I disturbed it for something as trivial as lens cleaning. It's annoying- stupid free Philco has better convergence than any other roudie I own, though I have the CTC-7 very very close.

Yeah I thought about that too. If I do it it will be a while before I get to it. Convergence is perfect and I don't want to mess it up. I'm just tickled it works. Will need to degauss it though. Don't have the equipment to do it. I used my soldering gun to get most of it out but will need something more heavy duty.

You can make your own if you have enough BPC sets to tear up, that's what I did. Took the coil out of another set, wound it up in a 10" coil, then powered it with a transformer. You can't power it directly off the line, or you'll blow fuses. That's why I used a small step down transformer, I think it's like 18 volts at an amp.

Or you could wind enough wire to run it off line voltage, but it seems a safer idea to run it off lower voltage. Failing that, Ebay always seems to have some.

I may be able to borrow one. I'll wait till I move it to it's final resting place because you know it will get magnetized again. I need to figure out my focus control first. You have to turn it all the way to one end. I suspect the 1V2(focus rectifier) is not receiving any filament voltage. Does not light up as far as I can see.

Is there anyone who wants to sell a good 21fjp22a? I don't want to pay more than the TV is worth. Mine is a little weak. Its dim and blurry when first turned on. Takes 5 or six minutes to clear up and get bright enough. It's watchable for now so I have some time and not in a huge hurry.

Did you test the CRT? Decent color tracking suggests the tube is fine.

Yes, the Philco I got from Minnesota is a '67 or '68 model.

John: All the guns could be worn by the same amount giving a dim picture, and the tracking test will still pass as long as the current through each individual gun is close to the others. All tracking means is that all 3 guns are using the same amount of current, but even a tube that tracks poorly may still have a decent picture because all sets have screen controls for the purpose of balancing the tube out. I had an RCA supplement that mentioned the installation of a red screen control (most chassis had only blue/green) in certain cases where the tube refused to track correctly, in an effort to balance the thing out.

They made round tube color sets until mid to late 1969. Muntz, and a few private label makes. They sold them as leader models.
