Clowns in old TV ad's
1 Attachment(s)
If I was a kid and saw this on the screen I'd scream and hide under the bed, and never turn on the TV again!
http://vintagetvsets.com/temp/magnavox-ad.jpg Might make a dandy Avatar though! :D |
:eek:I can see why clowns frighten so many people, they don't scare me, I just think they're in bad taste. I'd just scream "Get that trash off my Magnavox!"
|
I was in Australia with my grandson and the Easter Bunny walked up to his stroller whilst I was putting groceries into the car. The little guy screamed and started crying, he was 15 months old. Bunny turned and politely walked away. And a very sophisticated elderly lady walked up to me and said, "Wait until he sees Father Christmas!" I felt bad for the little guy but inside of me, when that lady said that , I LMAO!

I didn't know that politicians could time travel back to those days , put them selves on the screen of a tv in an ad and then travel back to the present time, i guess they finally have control of the time tunnel.

I never watch CSPAN... :D Thus no clowns on my TV...

Make me think of Crikey The Clown off Agro's Cartoon Connection http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=H_gdXMjC3QQ which was an Aussie cartoon show I use to watch as a kid lol. Never been afraid of clowns, I use to think they were just dumb lol. Just had a funny thought and that is to take that picture advert and superimpose a picture of America's insult comedian Yucko The Clown http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8c97vzkoG3Q over the original picture and photo edit the superimposed picture to match that of the advert to make it look like the real deal lol.

Makes me think of that movie 'It' based on Stephen King's book about a demonic clown that would lure small children into the sewers and well you can pretty much figure out the rest...

Remember the Killer Klowns from Outer Space? That was a spooky movie, even if it was crap.

Here's a few more clowns I've superimposed over that TV:D:
Krusty The Clown from The Simpsons Crikey The Clown from Aussie kids cartoon show Agro's Cartoon Connection Ronald McDonald from McDonalds |
Priceless, thanks for all of them!

Twenty years ago is a bit before my time, so my best guess as to who is the one clown, that every one is disgusted with, would be John Wayne Gaysey(probably misspelled). Who is the only clown I can think of that is hated by all sane people (including me).
|
You got it, John Wayne Gacy.
|
Gacy's story was at once both fascinating & unbelievably horrible. What gets me is that SOMEWHERE out there is another monster like him waiting to be triggered...
|
"Everybody loves a clown, so why don't you?"
Okay, guess I gotta read Gacy's wikipedia page now.... |
I first read about Gacy on Amiannoying.com years ago and recently have found in my beta tape collection a news report of Gacy's death sentence in 1994 and Gacy's paintings being featured in an art gallery which had mixed criticism on both positive and negative sides of the scale. So I know the basic outline of him and the horrific things he did.

shamsz
it was a reality show thing. a very angry clown screwed with people and it was hilarious. it was on along with wondershowzen. can you please help? its not in living color.
|
The reporter who first broke the story of that creeps paintings being sold was a then unknown radio man named Mark Belling. That story put him on the map as a reporter and he now does a conservative radio talk show in Milwaukee that I listen to sporatically.
If he hadn't mentioned that he broke that story I don't think I'd have had a clue who clown was. |
I don't think Clowns in the early 50's had developed the psycho-sexual proclivities they would in the 70's, therefore they were not percieved as a threat to children, hence their use in a television ad.
