That's a great find and being red makes it better. From the looks of the power switch, I'd say it has "instant on". I have a similar white Toshiba 9" from '76 that has instant on.

CRT is likely 370AUB22..One of my favorite sets use this blackstripe tube and was from 1976 as well.
That is a very very good TV set..they are near indestructible and do NOT suffer from the capacitor plague of late 80s early 90s Toshibas. Enjoy the large contrast that that crt is capable of |
Thanks!
When we turned it on to test it, before I picked it up, I couldnt believe how nice it looked ! The contrast and colors are superb ! I dont think it was used much because they said it was in a spare bedroom. Thats the good thing about small sets like this. Most of the time, they were used as spares and didnt get used alot, unlike the bigger 19"-30" sets. I think these sets also came in yellow and white casing. |

Cool, I like Orange sets.
I have it's slightly larger (15") and younger cousin but in White. This one was made in 1978. |
The yellow version is at one of the flea markets; but, at $75, it's probably not going anywhere.

I had one of those that I sold recently. Mine was white, and came with the Toshiba swivel stand. ( not sure if that was optional or if they all came with one)

FREE is ALWAYS Good..

Toshiba made VERY GOOD sets then..I have a 9" Sears made by them, that I gave practically NOTHING for offa Ebay several years back... Little guy has a GLORIOUS picture..Slightly yellowed mushroom/toadstool-shaped case, but Who Cares ?!?

I'm curious to know how you were able to get the cable box along with your white Toshiba TV. I thought those boxes were the property of the cable company and, as such, were supposed to be returned if or when the customer canceled his/her cable service; if they weren't returned, the customer would be liable for the full cost of the box, which for digital cable boxes (the fancy Motorola HD ones) in my area is well over $300. Further, I don't see how that Samsung box works with your cable, as most if not all of these boxes have to be unlocked, using a special code sent down the cable, by the cable company before they will work--even for local broadcast channels. (That's how the cable boxes work in my area, which has Time Warner Cable.) The only thing I can figure is that the Samsung box was outdated, and the cable company in your area was going to phase them out anyway when Canadian TV went digital, so anyone with an older analog box may have been allowed to keep it. I know someone in my home town who was able to keep a small analog cable box with an older set when Time Warner switched to digital; however, he eventually got a new cable-ready (181 channels) CRT TV and put the small analog cable box in storage.
I don't think there is any way to get around the unlock procedure with any digital cable box. The only thing I can come up with is that your Samsung box is designed for use with analog cable, or perhaps Canada's cable regulations are different from ours here in the US. :scratch2: |

We still get analog cable here in Canada. I can get roughly 36 analog channels with this box. shhhh, dont let the word get out ! |
If you got mad at either one of them Toshibas & decided to sell it, I DOUBT you'd have much trouble findin' it a new home...
