Huge Lot of Vintage Sets in Wisconsin!
 

If anyone is in Wisconsin, there are lot's of vintage sets here and looks like a few CRT's as well!

Looks like a nice metal cabinet roundie color set at the bottom left in the second picture.

Only in WI can you get a hay wagon load of TV's ;)

My pickers failed me, this is right on my turf!

I wonder what hoard they just pulled these out of (the listing mentions there are more coming)? And where there are TVs, there may be a radio collection as well.

I hope they aren't going to be unreasonable with the reserve (sounds like they think they found a gold mine). Most of those are just $10 sets. I only see one (the color set) worth more than $50. The roundie RCA might be worth that also, if the CRT is good.

Right now I see $200 as about the full value for the lot around here, unless the color set is in great shape. Most are just fish-tankers.

I'll have to check the boxed CRTs when I go over for a look.

Does anyone else see anything of value in the pictures?

The CRT's in those sets will be the most value(if they test strong) however they're probably pretty common types. At least they say you can leave behind whatever you don't want. Hopefully there's a usable Hi Lite color in that box. The portable on the right top stack in the shed looks like a nicely styled set.

Very interesting. Is this the same seller who had the $1,300 DuMont dog house on Craigslist and then eBay?

A whole buncha sets you kinda feel sorry for if'n they don't find good homes....

I've often thought about getting an old set I'm not partiticularly interested in as a daily use set, if the opportunity
for a really good deal came along..... If the reserve is not too high, I bet someone could restore and resell a lot of those sets
and then have some funds from the proceedes to like splurge on a $500. picture tube on ebay, or something like that....

The ad says the sets are "Super rare". Funny, 'cause all I see are common 50's B/W sets with the exception of the roundie.

Sets like this are very common (and very cheap) here in NE Wisconsin. I often find them for free on Craigslist so that people don't have to pay to have them recycled.

Believe me, most of those sets are only going to be good for some spare parts, like the CRTs as Kevin mentioned.

With parts and labor to restore those common ugly sets, you'd still be very lucky to find a buyer for any of them, even at firesale prices. Simply not worth the time, and you'd likely lose money on every one of 'em.

I think the roundie is a low-end Sears Silvertone. I only saw one like it. A Warwick built, series string, two stage IF with the Motorola type color circuit, but using a 10LE8.
It's a rare set! I don't think, too many survived, as they were such dogs. :thumbsdn:

Same city, different eBay ID. This is seller mikeeshelley and the Dumont doghouse was wrhfh320, a new account still without feedback. All the sets popping up in the Shawano area may have come from the same estate though.

Maybe this seller got the inflated idea of their value from talking with wrhfh320.

I'll report back if & when I know anything definite. In any case, my trailer is emptied out and in the driveway, ready to go.

About the only thing that interests me is the Travler metal portable.

The 10 or 12 inch CRT in the RCA would be worth something if good, as would the 21" CRT in that Hotpoint or GE looking set to the right of it, it might fit a Predicta, looks like there's a second one on the other side of the pile.

The Bakelite Admiral? would be a good set but the door is missing as always.

I don't ever recall finding a Hotpoint or GE with a CRT short enough to fit in a Predicta Head, though I've never really tried to. Always had access to the correct CRTs. Do you have any model numbers of those brand sets that used a short 21-inch CRT? I'd like to look at their Photofacts and then check the CRT specifications and see if they really do fit.

GE used 21CEP4 and 21SFP4 in their slimline coaxial sets. Those will work and fit in a Predicta if you don't mind the neck sticking out the back about an inch.

The table set in the second pics is a GE could be a 21T054, 21T055, 21
t060, or 21T061. All had the U chassis and could have a 21ATP4 or 21BTP4. The console is a Hotpoint 21S551. I think it used the U2 chassis. If so it has a 21CZP4. I don't think any of those will sub for a Predicta will they?

I wouldn't mind having either one of those sets. Personally I think there's several nice looking sets there that look pretty restorable. But, I realize I kinda go for the boring and they're not worth much. To each their own I guess.

21A/BTP4 - 90 degrees

21CZP4 is 110 degrees and might work, i couldn't find exact data on it.

I see a Hoffman there (right side of first pix) wouldn't that be a fairly unusual find that far from the West coast? :scratch2:

He might sell one or two, but nobody is going to take the entire deal for $200.:smoke:

That color roundie looks just like a Philco I picked up for Nick W. once. I don't see much that trips my trigger.

A person could probably squeeze out $200 worth of parts if some of the CRT's are good, problem is transporting and storing all those sets, or storing the CRT's for later use, then disposing of what you don't want or can't use.
And of course $200 isn't even the price, I suspect the reserve will be much higher.

They all pretty much looked like they had just been kept around for parts use and not to eventually try to fix up.

Some had backs and other parts missing, beat-up cabinets, mold and other water damage. The boxed CRTs were all rectangular, definitely used, and had been sitting in water for some time.

The only color set was indeed a very low-end Silvertone. Judging by the condition of all the sets, I didn't even bother testing the CRT in it.

No diamonds in the rough in this lot.

At least it was a nice day for a drive.

I don't guess he took the hint the first time around. I see one or two sets that I wouldn't mind having, but the majority of these sets are very common ones that can be easily found in better condition.

The CRT in the Predicta has a different pin-out. Also, a longer neck. :boring:

Second eBay auction again resulted in no opening bid.
