id estate sale roundie?

1 Attachment(s)
This roundie was/is at an estate sale in northern IL. Does anyone know the maker? I was going to go today but I really don't have storage space for another large object. The second day of the sale was postponed until Feb 7-8 because of the blizzard conditions we had Feb 1. Here is the link to the sale: http://www.estatesales.net/estate-sa...y/60013/805362
Disclaimer: I don't know the seller or their agents

It's an RCA.. Chassis could be CTC 7 - 11

Ch selector knob looks like CTC-10 to me.

I may pick this up...if I can manage

The set on the right is an RCA 24D655. I have the exact set but the photo-finish is very scratched.
The rabbit ears look to be Channel Master

Good Luck Jon! Go get 'em.

The sellers say they still have the set, but have gotten several other emails about it recently. I'd hate to drive all the way out there if another VC member would beat me to it, anyone else was planning to go?

There was another set on that post that might be worth getting. A rect. tube console. Can't really tell what it it--but it looked vintage to me.

Plus a bunch of vintage test gear.

The "newer" set looks like a HeathKit from the early 70s. My father and I built the set back then. The cabinet is their "modern" style. Thanks for the memories.

It's RCA, as had been mentioned, and it is the 1959 CTC9 chassis that uses a 21CYP22 CRT.

FYI, as of right now I am still working to find someone to help move it out of the estate basement Saturday morning. If I can't make it work, is there anyone else from VC interested ?

tvcollector 02-04-2015 08:16 PM

There is quite a few VKers on here that do live in the Chicago area.. I would think you should be able to find a volunteer..

Jon F 02-04-2015 08:44 PM

The estate is in Cary which is pretty far out from Chicago unfortunately. If anyone lives near feel free to PM me I can bring you some beer or maybe a used 8bp4 or 10bp4 for your time :)

Looks like someone got it and it's already on ebay

remote control?

tvcollector 02-08-2015 12:30 PM

That is him.. It's unlike him to get something just to put in on eBay.. I can see it's got a home...

I wonder if he found something seriously wrong with it that made him decide to flip it instead of fixing it.

or like most of us, he probably finds more stuff than he really has room for.. Need to weed things out to make room for the best stuff sometimes.

Yeah, a lot of the fun is the hunt and the initial look over. But once you get it home the reality of the growing pile stares you in the face.

$318 ebay snipe 6 seconds before end

Kirk 02-22-2015 06:44 PM

Ctc9

I have the same set. I had a hard time getting the remote control to work (poor range) but it still sports the original 21CYP. Picked it up in a brownstone house in Washington DC about 10 years ago with a fellow VRCM member in CT. I remember consulting with John Folsom about the workings of the remote. He was trying to get his working also.
