Where do people get their price ideas?
|
It's in the peoples republic of california......Soooo I'd guess a lot of marijuana was involved.
|
I have one that cost me under $30 with shipping, and I thought it was a bit high but worth it to me, because I remember the WNBQ "all-color" campaign, as well as the change to WMAQ-TV, having lived in Chicago.

I know I sound like a broken record, but I blame people like vintageaudiophilia.
Mr sellers puts his tv stuff on ebay for way too high prices. He makes his living doing this. Non tv people check ebay and base their prices on way over price stuff they see. Thanks you vintageaudiophilia :thumbsdn: |

If he can sell them at those prices than that's what they were worth.
At least VA sells sets of interest, I see all kinds of common 50's consoles listed at $600 or $700 or $1000. Look at this list, other than the Pre War I don't see any sets priced realistically until you get the the Philco 48-1000 on the second page.VA's sets are high for what they are but not insanely so. $1850 for a Philco 48-2500?? WTF, I guess I should get the one on my back porch out of the rain then. http://www.ebay.com/sch/Television-S...&_sc=1&_sop=16 |

This ashtray isn't much more than the price of a candy bar.

It would be a good price if it came with two
cartons of smokes:smoke: 73 Zeno:smoke: |
Yes, the ones with the twisted ends.:smoke:

Yes he sells some of his sets, but I doubt if he gets anything close to his asking price.

I don't let "overpriced" sets bother me. As stated well above, they're worth what they sell for. That's how a free economy works, right? I've probably been accused of asking too much before. There are sets I'd gladly give away, even load 'em in your car for you...and there are others that you would have to pay me 10 times what I paid. Sorry, but to ME my CTC-5 is worth around $1000. No, I wouldn't pay anywhere near that for one, but it's mine and I don't want to get rid of it. But, EVERYTHING has a price. And, some buyers are very serious about what they want and will PAY to get it.

I TRY to trade for everything in my collection and keep money out of the equation, dealing only with fellow collectors. If I paid something for a set and trade it, I usually get equal value in trade. If I get lucky acquiring a good CRT I don't need, its theirs for my cost of getting it, not some payday!
Recently, I paid $150 each for Zenith 21" roundie color sets from non-collectors. I really wanted them but I can't see letting them go again for that amount, more so if I add value by recapping, fixing their issues and then setting them up properly. On the other hand, when I repair something, its nearly always for a non-collector. To justify and finance this hobby, I HAVE to charge for those repairs and then stand behind them. if you undercharge for something to a non-collector, they will think that is all its worth. |
