Sony trinitron Ev-dt2 video 8/tv
Recently purchased this nearly mint, barely used Trinitron ev-dt2 with the carrying bag. It works perfect and I just thought i'd share.

That is pretty cool. Probably one of the smallest CRT TV/VCR combos out there.

$837 in 1993 money? Ouch!
|
Quite compact :)
The price was big for back then, but it was a nice gadget. Hope you will make a video with it working. Geah, I wonder how it will be to ride in a train with it and put a cassette. :) |
I'll make sure to make a video of it working and I'll post it when I do. It does have an adapter to use it in a car so why not use it like that? Its very watchable.

* I didn't have a license then so I was stuck in the back seats....Honda back seats typically hurt after an hour ride and try to cripple you if you spend 8 hours sitting in them... part of the reason I don't want to own a Honda. I wish auto makers would take a cue from my 78 Lincoln and make seats so comfortable that after 8 hours sitting in them you feel like you spent the day in a comfortable couch. |
It’s beautiful!
|
For some reason I can't get it to record onto tapes. I can get it to turn on the lights and everything so I think its trying to.
|
How about sharing a picture with the forum of it powered on? We want pics please, lol.

Update with pics
ok, sorry I haven't posted pics of it on yet. I am making a video on it.
Heres a pic of it with people https://i.imgur.com/IGKAXmu.png I chose a cartoon to show it because there are well defined colors and lines https://i.imgur.com/JI0FPkm.png It has a very nice picture |
Uhhhh, indeed a very nice one!
Sheesh, in the '90's it was very expnesive for U.S.A., for most Romaninans it was just a dream... |

Actually the Video 8 format was quite popular from 1985 well into the 2000’s. Just a few devices to play pre-recorded movies or home brew. I have a a collection of Video 8 movies. Other manufacturers made playback devices as well.
CrtsRtubular example looks pristine with excellent images. https://visions4netjournal.com/wp-co...D5ADBBBC3.jpeg https://visions4netjournal.com/wp-co...0F637B1E3.jpeg https://visions4netjournal.com/wp-co...1E82C7248.jpeg https://visions4netjournal.com/wp-co...6A0B0ABD7.jpeg https://visions4netjournal.com/wp-co...A824F04F9.jpeg https://visions4netjournal.com/wp-co...E222BFD60.jpeg |
I do remember when 8mm was a popular video camera format, but it too has gone the way of super 8 movie film. Now it all smart phone tech. Come to think of it I haven't even seen someone use a DSLR camera in awhile. But does technology march on. Just means that I'm vintage lol. Yes your find has a very nice picture. It was probably under used as a tv to watch. Nice find.

8mm was not popular outside of camcorders. An 8mm VCR was a rare bird, only a few manufacturers other than Sony produced them. Off the top of my head, Goldstar is all I can think about.

The Video 8 format lasted 20 years. Over 17 player/recorders were introduced. Stand alone decks were available. 1800 movies were available from the various movie studios. Sony was the main producer but Cannon had products as well. There may have been more. I have over 100 Video 8 movies and 2 player/recorders at the moment. I had 2 other player/recorders which were disposed of. On EBay today, many products are available.
Was it as big as Beta or VHS? No. Beta and VHS were the staple, but folks who had Mini 8 camcorders found the compact playback devices with LCD screens handy. I took my player on flights and watched movies. The products were not rare, they were available where ever audio/video equipment were sold. |
