ID This RCA Color TV
Guys,
I need an ID on this TV. It is at an estate sale. Thanks, Crist https://tvrestorerguy.com/wp-content/uploads/1a.jpg |
CTC-16(possibly XL) late or CTC-20 (last RCA roundy) I'd grab it in a heartbeat if it was close by.
|
I think it is a 1966 New Vista CTC-16 color tv.

I'm thinking its a CTC20.. Those and that knob layout aren't common.

It's one of the "Custom Collection" sets. They were only sold by certain dealers and had a "K" at the end of the model number.

The model picture I posted may be different because the set at the estate sale may be a metal cabinet.

The only CTC-20s that I remember selling were in a black metal cabinet with optional screw-on legs. Ultra low-end of the color TV line.

This was the last roundie for RCA. I have a friend that has one of those and we think RCA was using up existing inventory parts to make a less expensive color TV at that time when the rectangulars were already out.
|
Yep the '20 was based on the CTC-19, which was originally developed to drive the brand-new 19" rectangular CRT. To drive the 21" round tube, it was reworked and designated CTC-20. This was the genesis of all the 6GH8-eating chassis series. :D:blah:
|
I'm going to look at it tomorrow. I'll report back.
|
Looks like somebody beat me to it.

I did get a CTC-20 this weekend, but it wasn't the one in the first post.
|
I just hope a dogTankLiquor didn't get it...It would be a shame to see the bastardized cabinet on the interwebs.

I recall seeing an RCA 19" BW with the same VHF knob and that great slide rule UHF. The more common CTC16X,17X and 20 had a large UHF wheel with lots of numbers on it, a nice feature IMHO.
RCA and Admiral made the best slide rule UHF dials, to be copied later by Magnavox, Sylvania and Quasar. That feature alone made a B I G difference if you were in a UHF town like Harrisburg or Scranton. |
