A new type of fish tanking
|
I vaguely remember something like this where a radio cabinet was used to hold a sink in combination with a TV face as a mirror. I wonder if this was part of that.
It's a shame all the sets that get ruined by the dogTankLiquors... |
That doesn't even make a good mirror! dumb repurposers:twak:
|
I had been tempted to take a broken Admiral Bakelite cabinet I had and cut it down to a couple inches deep and make a picture frame out of it. But I couldn't think of an easy way to make a good cut through it.

Speaking of repurposing, what to do with my necked 21EP4B? Toss it as hopeless trash? Hang on to it in the hope that perhaps, maybe someday, a tube damaged like it is can be rebuilt phosphor and all? Or turn it into a piece of retro modern art, somehow? :scratch2:
|
21" monochrome CRTs were high sales volume when new and are low collector desirability now. There will be good used 21" monochrome tubes available for a fraction of the rebuild cost available for decades to come. It it were mine I'd crunch it up in a box, tape the box shut and round file it.... unless you have some art project in mind for it.

Still working on trying to ship the 21FP4 from the general area of “The Cheese Capital of The World” to central Texas, W/O paying a king's random, no easy task. :(
In the meantime, I have been looking online for 21 inch tubes, for the heck of it, not much to be found out there on eBay, good/bad or ugly. I may try to do SOMETHING with the 21EP4B, but I'm not willing to add to my list of lacerations and sutures to do so! :P |

If he drives to Wisconsin, he can pick it up gratis. I never knew hove much of a problem it is to ship an item like this. |
if you want something to laugh at...
https://www.ebay.com/i/284273287323?ul_noapp=true he says he " found it in the woods" and now he is selling it? |

How do you seriously expect too sell that with 1) a broken connector socket and bent pins, 2) you don't show the tube type or number or size, there MUST be some kind of identification on it someplace, w/o knowing WHAT it is or the size, or the history, the chances of it selling is VERY small, take it from someone who restores vintage TVs. reply--- "Buy it I found it in the woods" |

unfortunately, me doing long distance driving would be... bad. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wyKQe_i9yyo |

When there's no vacuum crunching CRTs up in a box is generally safe if you do it right....I've probably disposed of more than 10 CRTs that way without getting cut. You just need some heavy duty work gloves and a good size chunk of metal to lob into the box from 5-15' away. |

Uhhhhhh...... You do know that's an oxymoron on top of an oxymoron. |

I',m living the American dream here! Living from paycheck to paycheck! It's the modern way! It's what happens after 3 siblings decide to ditch their apartments and all go in and get a home together! And wind up with a overpriced POS, that's built out of crap material and is in risk of falling over if you sneeze. Then 8 years into it the deal, the youngest sibling decides to cut and run, leaving the other 2 holding the bag, basically just hanging on, even with my latest raise :O So I tend to view things as the tax refund and the stimulus check as extra “surplus” , but as time goes on, it will get nibbled away especially as days get hotter and electric bills get bigger :( |
looks like my weird art attempt may work. :D
https://i.imgur.com/SiUY3lJ.jpg got that far in 20 min, with just 1 grinding wheel, have 19 more new ones! |

It's not "government money" because there's no such thing - it's your money and mine (taxes).
And that is not "surplus." |

That's freshly printed money, might as well spend it cuz it aint gonna be worth nothin' soon lol.
I like to shoot dud CRTs with a high powered rifle @ 100+ yards. have plastic underneath to roll the remains up in and a box to roll that into. I live out in the desert where I can get away with stuff like this. :thmbsp: |
