Baby CT-100

You all will probably get a good chuckle out of this, but...for my English class at school, we each had to write a research paper on a topic of our choice. I choose the development of Color Television (In America). We also had to creat an art project to go along with our papers, so I decided to make a little RCA CT-100 TV out of wood. So here you go:

He'll grow up to be a big CT-100 someday! Btw... very nice likeness!

That is very cool! Can you squeeze a small LCD set inside there and make it work?

Aussie Bloke 04-13-2005 02:02 AM

Hey great choice of project, good onya :thmbsp: ! You did a fantastic job at it too and it's a work of art! I agree with Eric, you could squeeze a little LCD set inside it and there you go a functional baby CT-100 :thmbsp: !

Cheers
Troy

How big is it? Maybe you could even fit a tiny color tv chassis in there with a real tube instead of an lcd?

It's only about 8" tall, though I might be able to find a REALLY small screen...

:thmbsp: That is soooooo nice!

Now here would be a project-Panasonic made a 1.5" color Crt set in the '80s. I know-I have one. No, it ain't for sale, but every so often one shows up We-Know-Where. It would be just SO friggin' KEWL to mount one of them little guys in a cabinet-I don't know if it's quite the right scale, but you could prolly take a bit of poetic license. Panasonic also made a 2.75" version as well, but it might be harder to make fit. Even if you never do more than this w/it, you've still got a REAL work of art, IMHO.-Sandy G.

Were there any real old camcorders or home video cameras that had built in color crt viewfinders, or were they all either black and white crts or color or b/w lcd?
You must need a microscope to see the phosphor dots on that 1.5" screen!

Re the CT-50 (or CT-1.00?)

Maybe we can come up with a 1.5GP22 for the little guy.

You've earned an A+ for sure in this classroom!

Wow - that's awesome. I've used the expression "watching a little television" before, but I've never seen it taken this literally. Nice work!

Great job. Did you start with a solid block of wood?

It is parts all glued together, it basically started as a blank box, and I slowly added the trim, cutting off thin strips off wood. I was working off a picture, having never seen a CT-100 in person.

I'll be on the lookout for one of those little Panasonics, I would love to make this a working set!

Let me echo the sentiments of those beofe me. That is really cute! you must have put a lot of work into it. You need to come voer to my house and work on some of my bad-dog cabinets.

Outstanding job on that cabinet maxm!!!

Panasonic did make view finders for camcorders with their 1 1/2" color CRT in the 90's. The problem is the tube is fairly long at about 4". You might want to consider something like this:

It's not quite as cool as using a CRT but would fit easily, and has an outstanding picture on it. It's not actually part of the watch band, and is just the little rectagular box.
