man and I thought you meant color roundie.
Right over the hill about 30 mins away, but I don't have the $$$ nor the space for even a tabletop like that. Plus, I suspect that it will go for quite abit more than its current price. |
AWWWWWWWWWW it's CUTE! i want one!
IIRC, Zenith had the "Giant Circle" screen til '51...a fella I know has a 10" 1948 model,no paricular plans for it, but it was his wife's, & she doesn't want to sell. <Whimper...>
I've been watching this one closely for a few days now. I've been wanting one of these since I first saw one a few years ago. But the last few times a porthole set came up for sale around here, I didn't have the money. But I sold most of my stash of Corvette parts last summer, so I do now.:D The same seller also has an RCA 8TS30 up for sale.
I have, in the attic, a complete chassis w/crt which I think came out of this model or very similiar. (if I had been an hour earlier to the flea market I would have got the whole set-someone else just wanted an aquarium cabinet so they left the chassis-grrrr!) Anyway, this is a later model, I have one (complete) from 48 or 49 and it uses a separate power supply chassis and the tuner is on the opposite side.
This thing just went way out of my price range. $632  The last one that was around here on e-bay went for around $180. Is there some reason why this model is more valuable, or is everyone else as suprised about this as I am? Oh well, I might bid on that 8TS30 instead if it doesn't go too high.

Over $800 now, somethings seriously whacked here. $800+ for this plain jane model 12" porthole?!?
$862 and rising!
And now the 8TS30 is up to $201, and the same guy bidding on it. At that price I'm going to pass on that one too. |
That Zenith is getting fake bids, or there are SEVERAL villages missing an idiot this morning :nono:

I think it's great for us to try to determine if someone's a
fake bidder but even if one is the other high bidder gives us reason to believe the interest in these old TV's is on the rise.
I did not know such a set could command such a price but I shouldn't be surprised as I have learned many people will pay crazy prices if they want something. |
Two things in it's favor, it's clean, complete and the CRT is known to be good, (ok, that's three things) I still wouldn't go over $200-$250
fake bidder, pssh, id never do that, thats wrong
The Zenith sold for $998 , the RCA for $340 both to the same guy. I guess if those bids were fake, we will see both these sets being relisted.
