Need to Borrow 60s Color Remote

The History Channel is producing another show featuring a segment from the Early Television Museum. This one is part of a series about 60s technology, about color television.

Most of our collection is earlier than 1960, but we do have a couple of 60s sets. We need a 60s remote for the show.

Does anyone have one they'd loan us for a few days? The taping is on March 1.

I have a few Space Commander 600s. Would that do?

Steve McVoy 02-09-2007 09:19 AM

That would be perfect. I'm sending you a PM.

I am replying to your PM.

I mailed out the remotes today. I insured them for $60, and shipping was still only $6.50. Give me free admission to the TV museum and we'll call it square, lol.

There is a Zenith 600 SC, which is probably the one you'll want. I must say that I find that style remote kinda small, and cheap looking... Very un-Zenith.

I threw in a Maggie remote that I think is from the late 60s, it's a bit more attractive than the Zenith.

Since I didn't want to ship a rather tiny box (too easy to loose) I also threw in two non-60s remotes that I'm sure you'll include/exclude as warranted. (70s & 80s) Zenith remotes. They do show the progression of ultrasonic remotes.

Question for you guys outside the US... Do you get History Channel? I just want to know if I should say my remotes are simply famous, or better yet, WORLD FAMOUS

semi-related P.S.

After reading that CTC-7 thread, I was pretty angry. If some guy from France wants to spend a zillion bucks shipping something that 98% of the population would turn into a bookshelf, more power to him! It would be great to go Paris and see a roundie! I hope he didn't get scared off, because I'd love to see pics of some vintage SECAM sets.

A guy from Israel wanted to buy my Mark III on ebay. I'd much rather somebody who appreciated it bought it than some stupid kid who just put huge rims on it and drive it into the ground! Ironically, he got outbid by a guy in the next city, but Ka-sara-Ka-sara!

...and if you think I'm some PC wus, try parking your foreign car in my driveway.

As a matter of fact, I was in Israel on vacation around 8 years ago and saw a restored 1957 Chevy and other restored old American cars. They do have them there.

He sent me some pics of a car show... Looked like here, except for the hebrew plates (not joking)!

We receive the History channel here in Brazil, but...unfortunately, I am not a subscriber of the cable company that provides that channel.:tears:

The History channel is available here as part of one the extra packages, but I don't have cable at the moment. I may be able to catch this at a friends place though. Do you have the exact title of the show?

When I last had cable (a year or so ago) the History channel was the 24 hour World War II channel, so I rarely watched it. I don't know how much delay or difference there is between History channel USA and History channel Australia.

I used to call it the "Hitler Channel", if that gives you any idea, lol.
