CTC-16 Tint issue

Hey guys, well I noticed lately the tint control is cranked all the way to green, and now it's at full tilt, the faces have been getting more and more pink. Thinking it's a demod or chroma burst issue, I swapped out the tubes, issue got worse with good ones, alot of reds and blues were way off but green was ok.. The original tubes are not really that bad, a little weaker than the NOS tubes I bought. What would cause this and has anyone had these issues before? Thanks

You may want to check the color burst crystal. I've never had one fail but I hear they can go bad. Also, with that being a pc board chassis, loose grounds and bad connections should be suspected. There also should be an adjustment to allow you to achieve accurate flesh tones with the tint control at mid position.

How does the B/W picture look? If ok, then I would center on the 3.58 osc circuit next. Try this. Center your tint. Ground pin 2 of V703B 3.58 Osc tube. Adjust L702 reactance control coil for minimum # of vertical color lines/bars. Remove ground. Tune in a show of known good color quality. Set the tint control to midrange, adjust T703 3.58 Osc Trans for correct tint. Assuming you are successful, it gives you a place to start how far/fast the set is drifting. If you're lucky, you won't have to bother with it for a long time to come. Let us know how it turns out.

This sounds like it should be fairly easy! Thanks for the tip guys! I'll give it a shot!

Remember always check the basics, make sure you have good gray scale, if you have a color bar generator, make sure both demodulators are working. Rca did have a problem with coils going open in that series ctc 12 ctc 16
