Admiral FBT issues Please help

1 Attachment(s)
Hi everyone! I recently finished the chassis{3G11} for the Admiral and installed it over the weekend. When I powered it up it was pleasing to see the horizontal and vertical issues were completely gone. One big problem, the HV is way low and so is the focus voltage. The HV at the 2nd anode should be 26.5kv and the focus voltage at pin 9 of the CRT should be 5.4kv, they are 19.5kv and barely 1kv at the focus. I’ve checked the FBT with a Sencore ringer and it gives 22 cycles, which is way in the good, in fact the whole HO section rings 22 cycles. I’ve checked the 3AT2 rectifier, the disk caps and any other one I didn’t already replace and have found nothing wrong so far. The contacts in the 1V2 focus rectifier tube socket have been cleaned out as well as the CRT socket. I’m getting stumped here, please help!!
I hope it’s not the FBT!!

You might look to the HV regulation circuits if your sweep and width is good.

Thanks Jordan, I will check it out as soon as I get home! Through all the blurriness I could see good color at least, and as far as I could tell, the convergence was better too{ before it was so bad there was no adjusting it} so I think IF I can iron out this HV problem, this baby will be up and runnin'!

I'm trying to remember what exactly I ran into on my Admiral roundie. It was similiar...on power up I would have good focus for a second and then it would go blurry. It had hv regulation issues. I'll have to see if I made in notes; seems like it was a resistor that caused the trouble. It still has issues in the hv section...flyback runs hot. I'm thinking about just finding a replacement and going from there. Different chassis than this one (mirror image) but probably a lot alike.

The Sencore is the only one I have, I don't know anyone who could loan me one either.:scratch2:
Any suggestions? What kind is good?
