Tinytone Crystal Radio
I have listed a Tinytone Crystal Radio on my site. It was manufactured in 1959 by Western Manufacturing Co of Kearney, Nebraska.
Western Manufacturing Co was founded by Paul Beshore and his brothers in the early 1940’s. They released this particular design after the War and it remained pretty much unchanged for over 15 years. It has been credited with anticipating and likely influencing the look of later shirt pocket transistor radios! It came with a 10 year guarantee but mine still works well after nearly 50 years! With its futuristic 1940's inspired design its just so damn cool! http://www.transistorradiodesign.com...ystalradio.htm |
What a gorgeous web site! I love the '50's look of the colors and graphics. Kudos to you if you did the work!:ntwrthy:
Still have the 6 transistor Viscount I got for Christmas when I was a kid. Leather case, strap, earphones, and the tiny little leather earphone case that attaches to the strap. Spent way too many nights listening to baseball games under the covers when I should have been asleep! |
Yr little crystal doo-dad sure is KEWL !!

I joined freewebs and found they have prefabricated backgrounds. I found the most retro looking one that I could for my site! I did all the rest myself :) Make sure you keep that little Viscount then! They came out with some really collectible radios. You know I missed that whole transistor radio craze of the 50's and 60's. Growing up in the 80's I had a Walkman and a Discman! |
I'd send you some pics, but I'm afraid mine wouldn't look nearly as professional as yours.

I think its more good luck on my part than anything else!
