Nearly $200 for those tubes back then.....not cheap! Probably at least 6-700 in today's money.

Notice that the 15GP22 is a listed as being a rebuilt type (Colorama)...I wonder how long these were rebuilt? I thought a rebuild of those tubes was just about impossible...or is that just because some of the components of it are unavailable today?

In 1967 the CT-100 would have only been 13 years old...I would think that there would have been somewhat of a desire to keep them operating, especially since people shelled out a lot of money for them new, they do produce good color, and a new console color TV would have cost probably at least twice what a replacement 15GP22 did, and there was more of a desire overall at the time to repair rather than replace.

Does anyone know when the last renewal 15GP22's were made? There were probably some old timers that kept using the CT-100's until the repair parts were no longer available.

there had to have been replacements available thru the early to mid 70's I would think. I know you could still get a 21FJP22 in 1981 but they were getting scarce. I would agree that people did tend to repair more back then, BUT technology changed so fast back then as well that they would have been pitching CT-100's left and right. There would have been a world of differance in a 1954 tv compared to a new 1967 model. I sold Zeniths in the late 70's early 80's and we had customers opting to buy a new set rather then have their 10 year old models repaired. These would have been the CTC-38's which would have been 10 years old at that time. Also.... I remember from "housecall" days that if the lady of the house liked the cabinet, that set got repaired no matter what the cost! :eek:
