According to one popular internet inflation calculator, $495 in 1957 equates to over $3700 in 2007! :sigh:

That's a great Los Angeles ad! Just curious; does anyone know when Dorn's House of Miracles disappeared? I know they were a big store in TV & appliances for a long time. I think they were gone before my time, maybe replaced by Adrays (a similar store from the '70s-'80s in LA)
I think the ONLY one of the big early TV dealer chain stores is Ken Crane's. When they first opened, I believe they were an exclusive Raytheon-Belmont TV dealer. Later they hooked up on an exclusive deal with Magnavox in the late 60s, and became Magnavox City. Still in business, they sell Mitsubishi now. Charles |
