The shape of the safety glass reminds me of the Sony Trinitron!

Tvman39,
I believe its a 1951 set. Emerson made a similar set in a 17 and a 21 inch version but the control's were recessed in the side but had the same bowed front glass. Its a neat alternative from the otherwise bland styling they had in most of the early 50's type sets. Tony |
I've got one of those Emersons and the resemblance is uncanny. There is something odd about the face of these picture tubes, I think.

Bryan,
I have the 17 inch version of your Emerson. I dont know the model number of it as the lable for it is long gone. All of the imformation i find is for your model and not the 17 inch version. Yes, they do have an unusual look to the picture tube face and i know a regular 17 inch picture tube doesnt fit flush into mine. The face of the tube must have more of a curve to it than ones found in similar sets. Mine plays well after i fixed a bad vertical rolling problem it had. When i first saw the picture of the SC i thought it was an Emerson until i saw the controls on the bottom. Maybe they share the same designer. Tony |

I have some Conrac b/w tube type monitors with what appears to be a flat rectangular screen...it is not spherical like a typical crt face. Perhaps the screen is actually slightly cylindrical rather than totally flat.

I think I can shed some light on this thread. I have a console version of this set. I would love to have This set but the set is too far away. The CRT is a 21KP4/21FP4. It is sams 224-14 and dates from 1953.
