Stewart-Warner 9150DZ radio/phono
 

Hi, I purchased one of these for $50 at a local antique shop today. I can't find much about it on the 'net, so I'm assuming that it wasn't a very popular model, but it's just cool to me :thmbsp: I'm not sure what year it was made, but I'm guessing sometime from '48-'52. It doesn't work and it's missing a few tubes, so I'm not plugging it in until I have it looked at. Does anyone have any info about this particular model?

I does look to be from the late '40's. How many speeds does the record changer have? If it's 78 only, it was likely made before '48. If it has 33 and/or 45, it was made no earlier than '48. A model number could help us pinpoint a date.

It will need it's capacitors, tubes, and any bad wiring replaced before it can safely be plugged in.

The model number is 9150-DZ printed on a sticker inside the cabinet. It has 33/45/78 rpm and is an AM/FM receiver. The chassis has "RF231" and "CHANNEL 5" printed on it. The sticker is hard to read; my camera wouldn't focus well in the enclosed area.

I found a 9150-D in my price guide. According to the book, it's from 1950.

I appreciate the info. My next step is to remove all the components for repair and refinish the cabinet since the whole cabinet is showing the usual wear on the edges, scratches, and you can see where the finish on top is dry and cracked. I've found that this could hurt the value of the set, but I don't think it's worth very much to begin with. Am I mistaken? The antique shop dealer sold it to me for cheap because she said most people come in, buy these old radios when she has them, and strips them for parts.
